Kumaryu,

I agree fully with HarryT about trying to read most pdf files with a 6" reader. It is possible, but hardly ideal. I've been able to use my Sony prs950 7" reader if the page margins are severely cropped, but even then an extended bout of reading gives me much eyestrain.

I waited for two years to find an ideal 10" e-ink reader, and finally purchased a 10.1" color tablet, the AT&T-HTC Jetstream, at the greatly reduced price now available from the AT&T store (a refurb that looks perfectly new and with all accessories) - a super tablet that even has gps satellite capability, unlike the IPad. Reading quality of pdf files is outstanding with the tablet, except that one cannot use it in bright sunlight, and of course, the battery must be recharged much more often than with e-ink.

The refurbished tablet, that I've rooted, was less expensive than the current large screen e-ink readers, and provides much more value for the cost - for example if one travels much, as I do, the beautifully detailed 10" gps. city/road maps are very helpful.

Does anyone else think that maybe there should be a FAQ posted about reading PDFs, since it appears like 1/3 questions on this forum is about PDF readers?

Sure, that would be great!! PDF support is always a tricky area, with so much varying functionality that's needed (annotations, highlighting, reflow, zoom, etc.).

But it is good to see lots of posts about it; I'm actually now more unsure of epub support (e.g. annotations on M92) rather than PDF.

I disagree with HarryT. My 6" reader is excellent for PDF. But that's because the resolution is 768x1024.

My 6" pocketbook is great for reading PDFs. Until the author includes a diagram that's the full width of the page. Even in landscape mode and zoomed in I'm missing a lot in that diagram. For those books (all technical books) I use my 9.7 in tablet.

A micro-sized font, regardless of resolution, might be fine if you have 20-something eyes. By the time you hit 40, you start maxing out the font-size selector on your reader. At a fraction over 50, I'm at 14 and climbing.

I have a 650 with prs+. It reads simplish pdfs very well. More complex pdfs can be a pain. If you choose to go with a 6" e-ink device, the T1 is probably your best bet, but it will be a major pain for complex A4 pdfs. I convert to html to epub where I can.

Actually reading a more complex pdf as well with lots of pics etc and its bigger than a paperback. With prs+, the 650 is doing well. I'm not sure if the T1 has comparable functionality to 650 w/ prs+.

My experience with simple (meaning, text only) pdfs on the T1 was very mixed, to the extent where I did not want to really on it as a pdf reader. I love my T1 and think it's great for recreational books, but for my work related pdfs it's not reliable enough. Here's what happened to my pdfs:
