I just did this on both of my readers and between the two of them I removed 157 books. Going to try to keep under 50 on each device then shelve/folder the finished ones in hopes of remembering to update my goodreads account more often.

To delete a book, select it on the menu screen and click right on the four-way selector. You then get a menu allowing you to do a few different things like Remove from Device or Add to Collection.

edit: Oh, I see you have a Kindle Touch. In that case, just hold your finger down on the title you want to delete and you should see the same menu as I described above.

I keep all of my books on my readers. The only ones I delete are the ones I don't like and don't intend to finish or read again.

I have about 600 on my Kindle now. Some collections I will always keep on it, ready to reread at a moments notice.
Some I simply can't bear to be without.
I have my tbr list for the year on it too and add as needed. Most of those I delete when I am done.
I keep about the same amount of books on my tablet and phone too, same collections I can't live without and a tbr "pile".

If you click left on the controller of a NT it'll bring up a delete option right away instead of having to navigate to it with the right click method.

I cleaned up my Kindle yesterday. Like others I keep my complete collection in Calibre on my PC.

I have a collection for each series I'm reading, a category for stand-alone books and a waiting list category where I keep the first books of series I'm interested in.

About once a week I delete the books I've read and every couple of months I go through the list of my stand alone books and delete the ones I'm currently not interested in and add ones I want to read soon (thanks to the reading list plugin it's easy to keep track).

The way I look at it, at best I read about a book a week. When I get up to around 100, I figure that's about 2 years worth of reading, so I take off the ones I know I won't get to anytime soon. There are a few I always leave on, but they're books I like to re-read.

It also helps to keep my collection under control. When I got my first ereader, I was downloading every freebie that I thought was even remotely interesting. After about 6 months, I figured I had about 7 or 8 years worth of reading, so I stopped. I still hit the freebies, but only if I'm sure it's something I really want to read. 2 years ago. my collection was around 350 ebooks. Right now it's at 480, and I've read about 75% of them.

My collection is massive and all over the place. I have some ambition to import it all into Calibre and sort out the metadata (probably about 90% there w/ the epubs at least), but I don't worry about what's on my tablet and phone beyond being sure to have my current reads and a decent selection besides.

I regularly clean out my eink reader. There's typically 2 or 3 books on it, and rarely more than 10. My main reason for an eink reader is to have free and hassle free access to public domain works or library books, and because it's mildly more portable. I don't see much of a point in carrying a huge library of novels with me.

The LCD reader is a bit different. It stores reference works, so titles get added to it and rarely removed.

Started poking around my files again, and that "90%" was wildly optimistic :P

I copy all the books to my reader. I buy / download books on a "meant to read next" basis, so I have a reasonable number of books so far.

I delete most books as I read them . Every so often I delete others that I don't think I will read .
