Digitizing Coffee Table Books

The whole point of a coffee-table book in our house is to soak up the coffee that gets spilled, with depressing regularity, on the coffee-table.

Also can be known as the single malt/red wine/blackcurrant table-mat.

A useful feature I fear the ereader will prove inept at supplying....


[N.B. Many year's experience in this field has proved to my total satisfaction that a decent newspaper - usually with the one item you desperately need to read - provides the ultimate in performance in this area.]

Nonsense. The major roll for a coffee-table book is for your feet. First, they raise your foot level an extra few inches for added comfort. Second, they provide a layer of insulation and cushioning (important if you have a glass topped table!). Most important, when your wife tells you to get your stinking feet off the table, you can truthfully say that your feet aren't even touching it!

All other purposes are secondary!
