No. Especially since I've listed everything I read here for the last 18 months.

Also, I get the about the same question from folks I did when I read paper books, "What are you reading?" Usually followed by a blank look when I tell them.

Although not many have answered yes, it seems there is room for manufacturers to implement something similar to the "incognito" feature on some browsers, so you could hide some of your books if you intend to lend your reader

The Pocketbook ereaders already let you set up multiple password-protected user accounts on their readers. Each account is totally independent so anybody wishing to hide their secret fondness for James Joyce can keep it secret.

Having no such secret, I haven't bothered on mine but it's nice to know it's an option.

Exactly. I don't care what people think of what I am reading, I stopped apologizing to people for my *personal* interests decades ago.

No, but maybe that's because I only read with all of the lights turned off and under a blanket.

I mostly use the reader to read materials that don't exist in print form--fanfic and erotica. (Maybe that should be "fanfic and other erotica," although I do read non-slashy fanfic.) But I've sometimes set a smaller point size than I'm entirely comfortable with to avoid people on the train glancing over my shoulder and realizing what I'm reading.

Because, um. Not everyone wants their morning commute to include descriptions of naked guys getting it on. And while I don't particularly care who knows what I read--especially strangers--I don't need to actively inflict my tastes on them either, the way I would if I bumped the words up to a size that's easily readable by anyone else in a crowded train. (They don't have to read, but it's hard to unsee the words after you've glanced that direction.)

I am not a person who bases their self worth on other peoples opinions. Or society in general. I just don't care. The other thread discussing lying about which books you have read, I thought "why bother?". Same here. Why hide?

I flew on a plane where the woman next to me was reading a gynecological procedures manual/trade publication. An illustrated gynocological procedures/trade publication.

Just my personal opinion, but glancing at what someone is reading is different with pictures. Just words and the observer is an active participant when they decide to read your book. But something with pictures is registered with just a glance. Read your book at a comfortable font and if someone is nosey enough to read over your shoulder, then they do so at their own peril.

I like to read fanfic and I don't care to get in conversations about what it is, why people write about TV shows, etc. Other than that, I don't care if people see every book I have on there.

99% used it specifically to "hide" that they read the Daily Mail.

Nope. I work from home and do 99% of my eReading at home. And I use the Kobo option that displays the cover of the book I'm reading when the Kobo is asleep or off.

I have actually wished I could have the cover of the book I am currently reading [mainly scifi or fantasy] BE on the cover of my ereader. Oh well...

Oh, yes, definitely. I read lots of romances and fanfic and horoscopes, and every ridiculous thing you can imagine. It wasn't the primary reason I bought an ereader, but it's been a happy side-effect.

Funny, lately I've been doing the same thing. I used to be able to read anywhere, on planes, beaches, etc. Now I find myself getting too easily distracted and prefer to read at home with, at most, the company of milady or the critter.
