I think the OP would actually prefer to PAY for the book, ensuring that the author actually gets paid for her/his efforts. What the OP does NOT want to do is pay an inflated price because the publisher imposes a higher price in Canada than the US, even when our dollar is worth more than theirs. I can certainly sympathize with that, as well as the issues of not merely higher prices, but outright geo-restrictions that don't LET me buy a book. Hence my willingness to suggest reasonable alternatives that don't involve theft.

i saw you point of view. but for me it looks like Pookeysgirl wants to steal $18.51-$14.99 ~= $3.5 from amazon. If she can steal 3.5, why not 18.5? illlegal in both cases
never mind, i personally don't buy books from amazon (except one random book, when i checked if it possible to buy books from russia), because my native language (and only i can read) is russian, so my only choise is upload books to kindle via usb
