WOW, I just bought a SPARE Sony T1 at $65 from Target. Their Sony covers are discontinued but still at the full retail price.

Does anybody know where I can get a Sony or comparable standard cover for this ereader at a low price?

now I'll have to sell my PRS505 and 300 that were spares for the T1....

These prices only appear in certain US stores, right? I've been checking Canadian and US online prices, haven't seen any deal that comes even close to the prices people have been listing in the past couple of months. I have a friend in US checking for me, she hasn't found them either.
Cheapest I've seen them for was $119 recently at FutureShop and BestBuy [Canada].
I don't understand why only some stores are clearing them out? And if they are so determined to sell them, why not do it online for those prices?

Oh well, I [and my US friend] keep looking. I refuse to pay over $100 [Cdn or US] for one, and I can be very patient when I'm waiting for a bargain.

Checking the US Postal site, the best shipping price would be $16.95 if the reader would fit the dimensions for the small package. But it's more realistic for better packaging to keep it safe to send it in the medium sized package, which would be $47.95. I frequently send packages to Denmark, and if it's under 4 pounds, it's much less expensive; but if over 4 pounds, it's common for it to be $38-$45 depending on the weight. It's possible there might also be an amount pro-rated between the 2 shown that will go by weight if you don't use their pre-sized packaging.

Priority International Mail rates to the UK for small and medium packages.

I checked my local Target stores - 3 in my area - and none had any in stock. They all had the demo units still on display and the price labels show $129. No accessories for the Sony T1s available at any of the stores. I would have picked one up in heartbeat at that price.

Just a heads up that effective yesterday the USPS will not ship any item with a Lithium-Ion Battery internationally:

Oh, yes, of course, should've thought - it's prob'ly used in construction of sock/underpants/bra/string-vest bombs or something.

Actually, do they have a tendency to explode or something if they leave US waters, or reach certain altitudes or something ?
If so, that's the end of ereaders on ships and planes.

Supposedly they can be a fire hazard in the cargo hold. When I flew on Delta Airlines last month there was a warning about not putting them in your checked luggage, it was supposedly a TSA thing going back years.

They do have a nasty tendency to catch fire and take down planes:

That said, USPS expects the ban to be temporary and eventually you will be able to ship the batteries when installed in devices.

I just called my local Target and they don't even have the empty spaces with tags left. Sony's are gone, gone and gone!

Too bad, because a cheap reader would be nice...

We picked up two at our Target this morning as replacements for my sister in law's 505 and my father in law's 600. Now I just hope they have no issues.

I snatched a couple of them tonight. Yay!! They pulled the demo unit, they pulled the marketing - everything. Other than seeing the reader in the locked case you'd never know there was a Sony there.

One Target I went to sold out of all their Kindles too. Last week they told me the stores would still sell them but online wouldn't. This week somebody finally got informed and they told me they lost the contract with Amazon & Sony so the only ereader they're going to sell for now, is the Nook. meh. I don't like it.

I have to wonder though why if they're not selling the Kindles anymore & are basically going through their stock, why are the covers/cases still so darned expensive??? Makes no sense to me. Same thing with the Sony. Last week the readers were $129.99 & the cases $50. That's just stupid.
