Apple's return window is 14 days, Carol, not 30 days (at least it is in the UK - don't know if it's different where you are).

I think you are right. When talking with an Apple associate yesterday she said they didn't make an 8G iPhone 4 til the 4S came out and then that's the only 4 model you could get. She did say the 4S should be available in all capacities til the new one is on the shelves. So you would have a couple of weeks.

When I asked at AT&T (my carrier) they said 30 days. Will double check though when I go to buy.

Perhaps that's AT&T's return policy? If you buy at an Apple Store (as I did), it's 14 days. The reason I know this is that I bought an iPad 2 about 10 days before the announcement of the iPad 3, and I was just in time to return it and buy an iPad 3 as a replacement .

In the US the Aple Store's return policy is 30 days for iPhone, 14 days for everything else.

California law mandates that a user has 30 days to return a phone/cancel service.

For the phones, I don't think it matters much. The $399 iPad 2 Wi-Fi and $499 iPad 3 Wi-Fi both have 16GB. There's also a short window just before the new model's release when the subsidized price for the current model drops at retailers (notably Walmart).

It will matter if someone is holding off buying, looking to get it cheaper but wanting 16G. There has never been an 8G ipad, so I'm not sure how that's relevant... 16G has always been the baseline, as 8G was originally for iPhone (forgetting the forgettable 4G). When they run out of 8G storage you might see higher capacities in the "lesser" models. That *could* be, next time round, but I wouldnt depend on it, myself.

For those wondering, don't expect an iPhone announcement in June, that is going to be all about new computer hardware, and Mountain Lion.

LOL! I'm waiting til October, I'm 99.9% sure there wont be any new iphones til then, and I don't like the design of the 4/s (had a 4, hated it, sold it on). My 3GS is beginning to struggle with some of the newer apps and updates to the older ones, and I know that it will be EOL with the iOS6. (like the first iphone doesnt go higher than iOS3.x and the 3G is stuck, I think, at 4.x)

Also there are more and more rumours that there is going to be a larger screen in the next iPhone, but keeping the same physical size. fine with me, I don't need a massive screen, but 3.9-4" would be nice, especially for reading. From the same sources a rumour of a 7" iPad. Both rumours have surfaced every year around this time. Based in fact? Who knows... but I definitely will not be buying a new iPhone before the next iteration

I think you're probably right about the new phone. Not til October. I actually like the style of the 4S. I notice my 3GS getting slower too.

I heard the rumors about a 7" iPad. I have the Fire. Today I just went and bought an iPad. LOL
