I think you might be safe saying that because a) it's probably not gonna happen and b) if it did, I strongly doubt Amazon would put their name to something like the jetBook Color, so it would probably be worth buying.

Since 99.999% of ebooks are in plain black and white, what would you use a colour ereader for?

Your point is easy to see and I quite agree with you on the eBooks.

What you are missing is the fact that eReaders (my Kindle for example) are used for browsing the Web. Newspapers. Online magazines. Manuals. Maps All sorts of things. I can tell you first hand that looking at a weather map in shades of gray is not very informative. Even other maps have deficits because of a lack of color.

True I have a Galaxy Tablet but not with me at all times. I keep the Kindle with me 100% of the time because it has 3G which I admit might not be available in a newer Kindle. Still I would snatch up a color Kindle especially with a lit screen and a SD card before you could say "lickety-split."

We don't need video or flash. We don't need 64K shades of color. Just a modicum of color would do fine.

+1. When it arrives (some time in the distant future) I hope the screen will be bigger than 6". 8" is just about perfect. And full Android, to make reading websites and newspapers easier. Although Amazon will probably not do that to try to tie you into their store.

Agreed! I would definitely buy an 8" colour ereader if it comes with all the things you mentioned.

I just don't think it's up to the quality of a device that Amazon would sell. Do you think Amazon would advertise a device as having wi-fi and a web browser when it plainly doesn't, and carry on advertising it as such for months after it goes on sale? Or use images of the device's screen that aren't even enhanced but are entirely made up?

Ok, but with a fair announcement don't you think color e-ink (we are talking about the screen) could be interesting for many users? It sure is pretty for me even if what I expected was something different
