Can non-DRM ePub books be read on a DRM-ePub device?

wandermaybe, reading non-drm formats is something any device is capable of (although not all kind of formats). What differentiates them is their ability to read books with drm. A big number of readers reads epub-drm and all the Amazon devices read mobi-drm. For legal reasons there is no device that is capable of reading mobi-drm and epub-drm at the same time.

Good point. I'd forgotten about Mobipocket ebooks. Mobipocket (which is owned by Amazon) sells ebooks that can't be read on Kindle. To read them you have to be able to strip the DRM. Why they don't allow their books to be read on Kindle when they are owned by Amazon I don't know. Of course that just applies to their ebooks with a sale price on them. The free ebooks on their site open ok as far as I know.

I've never personally encountered a device that uses a piece of cake as a transfer medium; I would have thought that the crumbs would be a problem, not to mention longevity issues for the medium. USB connections or SD cards are more normally encountered.

I like reading on the Libre Color better than on my nonbacklit jetBook. The size of the screen seems close to the size of a page in a paperback book, which is comfortable. I mostly like to read at home in dim light, and with the Libre Color, even set at minimum brightness, I can easily read without a reading light.

As regards as PDF, I believe there's ADOBE DRM and other protection systems, you should also check the specifications for your reader in case you intend to read protected PDF's.

Forgive my pedantry, but the Nook in fact supports both B&N and Adobe DRM. It was one of the big selling points for me. (Y'know, before I found out how much I love cabbages and DRM became irrelevant.)
