Of course they do. The rep who said they dont obviously was being lazy and passing the buck, as they had no idea what was wrong.

Poor customer service combined with firmware bugs are one of the major reasons I decided against buying a Kobo. My sister-in-law has a Kobo Touch, and as much as she likes her reader, she finds the PC software extremely frustrating, and she's never had a satisfactory interaction with Kobo's technical support services. I can accept the Kobo Touch reader having a few bugs in it's firmware and/or technical limitations preventing the use of SDHC memory cards- no hardware or software is completely bug free. But this seems like just out-and-out laziness combined with bad management. They need to get their technical and sales staff on the same page with a single consistent message. If the Kobo Touch can't use SDHC cards, then they shouldn't be advertising it's ability to use them. And if the Kobo Touch can work with SOME SDHC cards, then they need to release a list of SDHC cards officially compatible with the Kobo Touch.

I'm encountering the crashing on my Kobo Touch, too. It's running 1.9.17 (r37603, 3/16/12), and it has an ADATA 32gb SDHC card in it. I can only read one page until it returns to the home screen.

The funny thing is that it can still read books on the SD card with no problem. It's only the books in the main memory that seem to have the issue.

https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/ <--- this generally blows away anything funky done with your SD card and makes it work with the Kobo.

I remember having to flip a few switches so reading the manual would be recommended. That aside, my 8GB memory card didn't used to work because I turned it into a bootable one at some point. After format, it's all good.

That's what the Kobo support told me to use as well. It seems to work for some people (including you), alas it did not for me (and I pretty much used every option on it).

I have an 8 GB Lexar HDHC micro SD card, and I am experiencing the problems mentioned above, whether or not I am reading books on the device or on the card: return to Home Screen after every 2 or 3 page turns, and multiple other odd behaviours. I suspect that not all HDHC micro SD cards are created equal. We need a list of reliable cards. So far we've heard bad news about Lexar and Adata and good news about SanDisk. Suggestions folks? Give us your card brands, please.

At first I though it was the firmware, then I thought it was the hardware, and now I'm convinced it is certain cards. Here's hoping for a simple solution.

I have two ADATA 8gb class 6 cards and they very work very well in both Kobos that I have.

I also have two ADATA 8gb class 10 cards and they both refuse to work properly in both Kobos. They crash after a few actions such as page turns, menus etc..

PNY 16GB SDHC. KT doesn't safely load more than about 200 ePubs before it stops "processing content" at 28%. But as KT won't report what's blocking things, it's been difficult to complete any loading operations, even five epubs at a time. I have periodically reformatted the SDHC and sideloaded again, and except for loading via the Kobo desktop app, always used Calibre. (With both I always get the OK eject). So right now the card has 598MB on it, 14.8 gigs free, but I have not put it back in the KT.

My KT hasn't had a 200 book limit on the SDHC card.

200 titles is only about what it will process off the card before the KT bogs down, but Kobo leaves it up to me to guess what epub might be bollixing things up. Kobo error reporting would be nice to have.

When processing content, Kobo loads books from the uSD card in Alpha order. Go to the Images folder (sort by name) to find out what book is not loading. The last book with a full set of images has loaded. A partial set or no images for the next book in sequence means the book will not load. Delete this book from the uSD card and try again.

Sounds workable beginning with an empty card that is then loaded A-Z. Right now my SDHC has ~200 books that were loaded in mixed-alpha groups, so I'm not sure an alpha-sort of that monkey-puzzle list would reveal the problem ePub(s) unless compared with a sorted list of what the KT actually recognizes on the card.

I guess one could compare by stepping through the card's alpha-sort (in, say, Windows Explorer) while paging through the alpha-author library list on the KT. Or is there an easier way? Hope-hope.

You don't have to do anything to the card. Delete all the images from the Images folder on the Kobo and reload the entire card. After it stops loading check the images folder with Windows explorer. It will have stopped loading the book set of images at the bad book. The books will be loaded from the card in alpha author sort. I use Calibre to load my books on the card and have used this method to find bad books. I have 1300 books on the card.

OK, folks, here's my next installment. My first microSDHC card was the Lexar 8GB (Class 4) that caused problems of various sorts.

Today I purchased an new 8GB microSDHC card (class 4), this time a SanDisk brand...and voila! No problem. My son now uses the Lexar in his cellphone and I'm happy with my Kobo. I knew it mattered for reliability what brand of writable CD's and DVD's a person bought, but I never imagined the same would be true for SD cards, especially common brands you find in the stores. Ah well. Live and learn. Hope this helps someone.

To further complicate the issue, I am successfully using a Lexar 4GB class 4 card.
