What is interesting is that they asked your permission before uploading the log data. That kind of goes against all of the conspiracy folks who think that Amazon is always uploading that kind of stuff from every e-book.
I think a lot of credit is due to Amazon about how they are addressing this problem. |

I've had this happen several times, but it happened to me before I updated the software to 5.1 and has continued. Happens rarely, but may occur a couple of times in a particular book, then not happen again for a month or so.
I once had problems with my Kindle keyboard and was called by Amazon who asked for permission to upload from the device, which was reassuring as I felt they were paying attention. Jim |

It might be completely unrelated, especially if the OP was encountering this with files built by Amazon/KG/KP, but there was a fix for KF8 output in Calibre a while back to fix weird pagination errors...
It doesn't fit the OP's issue exactly (with the only book I had that suffered from this, the symptoms were a little bit less severe: it was just switching for a little bit more than one page from time to time (or a little bit less, can't remember exactly)), but that might be something similar... Or not, especially if that happened on mobi6 files ![]() |

No. The Kindle is uploading. Nobody is downloading. You probably want to revisit your understanding of networking fundamentals and client/server terminology.
... ah whatever, I'm not going to feed you anymore. Last edited by ixtab; 08-22-2012 at 09:51 PM. |

A client downloads FROM a server, or uploads TO a server. The kindle is the client, and it communicates with the amazon server cloud.
Perhaps JSWolf is merely confusing upload/download with receive/transmit, but if you base judgement on his past behavior it is easy to conclude that he knows the correct definitions and is just trying to bait us with off-topic diversionary terminology obfuscation. |
