Chantal, I have printed out all of your instructions, and will have another go within the next few days (without my hubby and the dog hovering over me!).

Got my IP Address fine, downloaded Aldiko, tapped for my catalogues, nary a sign of it. Maybe it's only in Premium...which I will purchase tomorrow when i am free to do so.
Will stanza work with the Tablet...or mustI use IP Address?

It works exactly the same way in the free version...the only difference between the free and paid versions is no "ads".
Make sure Calibre is open on your computer and that your server is on. The word stanza is only used to obtain a specific format of the Calibre menu on your tablet. Stanza itself is only for Apple devices.
You must use an ip address and it must be the correct one. You must also be using the correct port number for Calibre, which in your case should be 8080.

If you have no luck, get a techie friend to help you out (I've done it for several of mine...)
