I think you know exactly what you are doing and why - rather than reading FIRST post from the link which was published long time ago and in multiple places

OK guys, just to cool down and come back to the technical discussion again:

Yep, that's exactly the case. After each "update" (creating the recovery image, minimal root, apps2sd) I deleted the respective files from the SD card again. Didn't know they had to stay there in order to boot into "recovery mode". Thanks uboot for the hint ...

Just a small side remark: Although I also do not find it very comfortable to scan through a myriad of Russian pages translated by Google, all those involved in "demystifying" the Reader (rupor, porkupan, uboot etc.) do not offer a "documentation" service which can be demanded here.

Regards,
Joerg

Hey Everyone!
and especially Hi Rupor!!, and a VERY BIG THANK YOU for your fantastic rooting kit!!!

I just rooted recently, and it works like a charm over here.

I have an App2SD problem though:
First i rooted, as described in the mobile read wiki, using the hack from/and reading your translated guide.
Then i applied the App2SD hack the same way i applied the AMR root (@jojosk: overwriting the "PRS-T1 Update.package" file of the earlier AMR root, restarting, etc).

Then, within Androids > Settings > Applications menu, moving Apps to SD seems to work like a charm, i moved every and each of my big Apps and now they all say "move to Phone" instead of "move to SD";

HOWEVER! i can still not install more apps, since it says: no more space.
A quick peak into Total Commander Homescreen reveals: root space 3 MB of 50 left! and it gets less with every app install, no matter if moved it afterwards or not... hmm.

My internal Memory is still 90% free, my external SD offers 4 GB as well..

What am I doing wrong?
And why is there only so little space on root? is there a 3rd invisible partition on the reader that i can't access via USB / total commander?
how do i fix this?

sorry if answer was given already, but i couldn't find it anywhere :/

(And I may have noticed a small bug with your rooting kit (or total commander?) so far:
you have included a Total Commander RC version. I updated it to 1.01, and there are several folders which i can't access, dispite being granted superuser rights, e.g. folders /cache, /config, /data, /root, etc. it does say granting su-rights within the poup, but then a window appears, saying "cant open files/folders")

Thanks a lot in advance!

@jojosk: I think the right version you were asking for refers to the Firmware Version of your T1 needed for
rupor's rooting guide, here which would be the latest available, 1.0.04.12210. I basically agree with you in specifying stuff, but you could've been much nicer, imo.

Apps2SD adds functionality (omitted by Sony) back to Android - but it is not a panacea. It does not change how much space is available on device /data partitions and each application moved to SD leaves behind a bit of itself anyway. If you really would like to get rid of space limit you need to repartition your device (in addition to Apps2SD) ... Just look for repartitioning discussions on the forum - default size of /data partition is 40MB. I have 400MB on my device

If I am not mistaken you need to enable superuser rights in TC option's menu... Something like "Root functions everywhere"?

In regards to guides and explanation - I did not publish anything in English on the subject so far, did not have time and firmware was in heavy development. This is the reason why project page on SourceForge says "beta". First stable version was published for Russian community (which participated in development) about a week ago. Now that code is stable when I have time I will probably update project page with English guides.

From time to time I answer questions here for people who are brave and do not want to wait...

Hi Rupor, thank you very much for your quick reply!

i tried your idea. before i encountered the problem, i wanted to update the superuser app too, but it wouldn't install. after updating to the latest TC, i encountered this problem. I tried solving it with deleting the history/setting within the superuser app. Now, everytime i try to mark that "root everywhere" box in tc i get this little popup by SU, telling me tc was denied. i set SU to allow everything, but still getting the pop-up in TC. have you tried installing the latest (1.01) tc on your device?

also: what repartition guide would you recommend. i've read on the wiki you can brick easily...

and it's okay there's only the russian-google-translate-doc-version. it's clear enough, rest is decently covered by the wiki so far. i might clearify the app2sd part there laters.

Repartitioning is dangerous - and as far as I could see there is not a single repartitioning guide which is complete and comprehensive So read all of them...

You should not try to update system applications - at least not the regular way. All packages in the firmware are carefully selected and tested together - for stability and best results. You want to play - you are on your own

Would you consider updating your rooting kit to tc 1.01 final?
or should i flash the old one over it again?
if yes: do i have to flash the app2sd again as well?
you could at least post a warning that one is not allowed to update your beta apps :P hehe

and i hate reading forums. there's always so much babble :/ the world should be a wiki but maybe i'll work myself through one day and wiki it. I just don't want to break my 150 eur machine :P
on the other hand, even with app2sd the low space is really a pain in the ass.

It is already upgraded - you could re-download and re-install AMR on top.

Apps2SD does not need to be touched.

As for repartitioning - technically it is possible to create a script to do it, however it is one time operation for a particular device and creating a script (or WiKi) is a lot of work and responsibility...

I used my backup/rescuе SD card and Paragon Partition Manager 11 under Windows to do it - took me about 10 minutes, however this is dangerous operation...

do you think making a disk dump and repartitioning with gparted under linux would be possible?
or would the usb-connection mode be screwed if something fails? so i couldn't dd back?
