But you'd know.

Compreg, yes. Very hard to distingush from plastic. Dymondwood mimics non-engineered wood much better (as long as the colour scheme isn't too outlandish ). Many "wood" pens are made from Dymondwood. The thinner the pen shell, the more chances are that it is made from Dymondwood.

Not really. Nothing that says it has to be identical to the original (especially the back cover) -- it could be thicker and not cause any issues I can think of. Front might be more of a challenge from a bevel down to the screen perspective, but likely doable.
Not sure I'd want to take on the Kobo Wifi just due to the button -- it would add extra complications to making the front cover work.

It would certainly look beautiful. However, I think that there would be problems with the wood warping from changes in temperature and humidity.
