Lol! Yeah, there are a lot of Dr. Nefario's around.

My person favorite is Benjamin Rosenbaum's short story "The Death Trap of Dr. Nefario", which is told from the perspective of a psychotherapist whose clients are celebrity crimefighters.

Come on you guys, I'm not getting any ideas from this post. Well maybe apart from the Docs idea about the turnips and the killer tomatoes.

“Night of the Legumes”.

Yes, that was the one I found on the web. I enjoyed it, but I couldn't remember what it was called or who wrote it.

Werewolves of Antarctica.
Man working at a blood bank gets a call for blood one night. Delivers blood to the ER and while speaking to a nurse afterwards hears bloodcurdling scream. Rushes into the ER room and sees man on the table turning into a werewolf. Suddenly strangers rush into the room and carry the man away. Hospital covers up the incident but man and nurse determine to investigate further. Finally track down people behind this only to have one of them turn into slavering werewolf. But the man and nurse know that scientifically this is impossible. So how can this be? Eventually they discover that these are a different species of human and that they give off pheromones that cause homo sapiens to hallucinate and see them as werewolves. An evolutionary way to stay safe in a world populated by homo sapiens. Further investigation leads to the discovery of a group of these werewolves living under the ice of Antarctica. One has become so enraged over the death of his family by homo sapiens that he has devised a method of damaging the ozone layer over Antarctica. He must be stopped.

I had a thought that I most likely will never do.

Have a old Vietnam vet, his best friend died in Vietnam, both swore to take care of each others family if anything ever happened, but he never did. So years later the friends wife calls him up, her son, his dead friend's son went to Vietnam to explore where his dad died and disappears.... She begs him to go find her son, he being a older man and also his wife recently died who he misses terribly (causing a deep depression), he decides to go on one last mission. One mean old man with nothing to live for....

And it kicks off from here and you can twist and turn it anyway you fancy.

Make the Man's character grow, involve his son who is a Iraqi and Afghanistan vet, involve his old military buddies, involve old friends and enemies in vietnam.

Add in some surprises from the old days leading up to today.

All the good stuff of a modern novel.

Dan

Except the son is luring his dad's old friend back to Vietnam because he blames him for his pa's death....

I keep wondering if this thread's going to turn into one of those games we used to play as kids. You know: each person has to tell the next line of the story. We could start a cooperative novel!

My turn ... ahhh ...

The old friend's wife didn't die by accident, we suspect the other man's son, but as we get into Vietnam we discover others with their own reasons for drawing these people together.

In fanfic these are often called "plotbunnies." For fic exchanges, there's often a prompts post where people list ideas for other people to write. I tend to throw plotbunnies around in clusters of half a dozen or so.

Random set, mostly erotica-intended but some are other genres:
  • A polygamous Mormon family in the Territory of Utah has a secret: their husband wasn't born a man.
  • A PI finds it's easier to get pictures of cheating wives/husbands if he pays a prostitute to seduce the person he's being paid to photograph.
  • A married woman's teenage stepson is trying to seduce her.
  • A sentient sword, an apprentice wizard, an ancient thief, and a lust potion—what could possibly go wrong?
  • A new colony planet is having problems with fertility & take extreme measures to ensure survival of the species.
  • Cabin boy is a girl in disguise, seeking her long-lost brother. He's now the captain, and once she's discovered, he'll need to find a way to punish her to avoid mutiny.
  • Projecting telepaths are *everyone's* favorite sex toy.
