I like the K2 very well. I like the joystick on the K2 quite a bit better than the 4-way on the KK. If the K2 had Wi-Fi and a Pearl screen, that would be exactly what I would use.

Too bad those buttons were removed from the Kindle Touch. That's one reason I haven't really been tempted.

I got my K3 last June so I'm not in any hurry to upgrade.

I own a K3 and a K4. I don't find the K4 an upgrade it's almost like a step back. I use both but The K3 is better than the K4.

I am guessing that the K6 will have the buttons when it is released. That seems to be a popular complaint with the K5 (KT).
I will upgrade if the K3 is unable to read the new format when it is fully rolled out. I love my Kindle and will stick with it until another device comes out that I feel is superior. So far, I have not seen anything that makes me want to switch. Mind you, it will be easy to switch when I want to but first I have to see something that makes me want to. |

I use my K3 at the gym, where sweaty fingers work better with real buttons. I use my Kindle Touch to read at home, as I prefer the touch screen to the buttons (and it makes no noise to keep the husband awake when reading in bed).

I'll upgrade to a touch screen when Amazon changes the frame color to black (or other similar dark color). Lighter colors bother my eyes.

I've got my K3 for almost a year now and I'm still very happy with it. I might consider upgrading to a Kindle 4 non-touch if Amazon opens a Dutch/Benelux store and it's cheaper to get one than when ordering in the US. However, the shorter battery life worries me, the only reason for getting one is that it's a bit smaller than my K3. I'm not really interested in the KT, I've had a Sony before and I found out I prefer buttons over touch screen.
Amazon is rumoured to open a Dutch/Benelux webshop some time this summer, I'll probably wait to see what improvements the new Kindle line-up has before deciding if I get a new Kindle or keep my K3. Like others I would switch when the eInk screen is improved. Other things I'm interested in: more sorting options (collection in collection), less fragile and if it starts reading more formats (eg. ePub). |

Actually I did something opposite..
I got KT first (wifi) and after that I got tempted with free internet on K3 and got one.. Right now KT lays peacefully and waits for better times... |

I "upgraded" to a kindle fire when it was released after I broke my kindle 3 keyboard mainly for reasons of stability (that of the device). Right now I am considering getting a cheap e-ink device (e.g. the new basic kindle) in addition to have something to better read in bright sunlight (not that this was something I had to fear very much in Germany, but you never know...)

If a new Kindle comes out with the Flex lighting, then maybe I'll look at upgrading. Past that? I can't really see the newer Kindles as "upgrades." But, that's just me.

I'd probably consider upgrading for some combination of these:
Color Higher res screen nested collections faster with large numbers of books on device But I'm with those that would prefer to have page turn buttons where the ones on the K3 are. Lack of those would be a factor to counter some of the above advances. If they went with the lighted screen that's been talked about, I'd be very curious to actually see how it worked. I'm one of those that doesn't like reading on a tablet because of backlighting, so I'm curious to see how that compares. |

For reading most fiction and non-fiction, I can't see how to improve the K3 wifi. I have the M-edge cover with light, so don't need the flex light. For this size, additional color and graphics don't mean much.
It won't be a replacement, but an additional gadget: When they come out with a DX size flexible color display that can show the National Geographic magazine's layout and photos equal to the priint version, I'll buy it! |

That's interesting. I found a considerable improvement/difference between the display on the K2 and the superior Pearl display of the K3. That alone was the reason I upgraded.
