It reminds me of the old iPods back in the day kinda. They were pretty easy to read on actually...
I'll probably get one too. I don't use my K3 much anymore, but it's nice that it's there and charged up when needed. |

As far as new Kindles, I think the main thing that would interest me would be a colour e-ink display as it would be nice to be able to read my books, magazines and comics in a dedicated reader. |

Interesting timing: first the TechCrunch article, then a few days later, B&N effectively announces 'glowing Nook'. Seems like Amazon caught wind of B&N's release and leaked their own plans to reduce the impact.
Anyway, if the implementation is good, and doesn't add significant cost to the device, it would be nice. I don't think it would be enough for me to 'upgrade', now that KT only just yesterday became the device I hoped it would be on day one (due to 5.1 update). It feels brand new! |

After looking at the Lighted Nook on B&N's site. I can't wait for a Kindle that does this! I live in low lighting settings so this would be idea to upgrade to it.

I've been wanting this for a while... wrong company, right feature! Sounds like Amazon's got to introduce the new Kindle soon... like in the next few weeks.
I always figured it'd be green like Indiglo is, but white's a better pick if this will eventually show up on color eInk screens. |

Can see this as a worthwhile upgrade for people who do not read on tablets at night. I couldn't justify it's purchase if I were already reading on a tablet in the bed, considering that light shining into my eyes is still light shining into my eyes, no matter whether front-lit or back-lit.

For me I'm frustrated not having collections then pdocs not working right on the Kindle Fire and 6.3 formatting bugs. I would love to have a Lighted Eink Reader that isn't heavy!

Excellent, that would become my 3rd kindle if it delivers on retaining clarity :-) Thankfully most of my favorite authors don't use DRM to make that inconvenient (I currently use both my kindle's and use the sync to page between devices a lot ... which won't work when I strip the DRM).
http://www.flexlighting.com/ My past experience with the front light on my Casio fx-9860 GII and watch (Illumuminator, like timex's indiglo) is pretty good and uniform (altough very blue). The film used on my watch has a bit greater clarity than my calc, so I guess there are some cost considerations in having layers with excellent optical properties. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZUKaEf1eww The front light on Sony PRS-700 was apparently a disaster for most users, but lower-contrast and a touch-layer in addition to the side-lights might have added to the fuzzy display. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZUKaEf1eww http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/12/n...ight-hands-on/ Last edited by tovare; 04-12-2012 at 08:00 PM. |

"Amazing in bed and at the beach"

It's definitely over priced, in my opinion. I'm sure they rushed it out just so they could beat Amazon to the punch. I am also sure that Amazon's product will be superior, and cost less. Even if it cost more, I wouldn't buy the B&N product. Their marketing is full of lies and false comparisons. How can the Nook be the World's #1 Reader, when they only ship to the US? That kind of thing makes me glad I didn't give into the temptation to buy a refurb Nook Touch.
