![]() Back on topic, I like seeing sub-categories for all the books posted here, for reasons that have already been mentioned. It helps me avoid the ones I'm less interested in, and makes it easier for me to zero in on the types of romances I do enjoy reading. I'm all in favor of building me collection of books, but I prefer doing it with titles that I will enjoy reading, when I do read them. |

![]() Hey, if you write a long-ish complaint about something directly to me, I will respond as if you wrote a long-ish complaint about something directly to me. "Say what you mean and mean what you say", as Alice in Wonderland puts it. Or just don't say it if you don't really mean it*. It saves time all around, and that's a Good Thing™. I hope you realize that the Deals forum is really just a huge waste of my time, and not just in the usual browsing-it timesink manner. I flat-out don't read and am not even vaguely interested in 80% of the categories of stuff that regularly show up as freebies so I'm getting nothing out of all the Christian fiction/self-help/devotionals, business/management/finance guides (different rules for most financial stuff in Canada anyway), [INSERT THING HERE] vs serial killer thrillers, and romance whether erotic or non- (although I suppose I'm sometimes willing to look at historical and zany screwball comedy/mystery ones, so it's not a total loss). It wastes my time to look for them. It wastes my time to do posts for them. It wastes my time to look for additional stores for them. It probably even wastes my time to even look at them, considering that I know I'm not going to bother reading them and wouldn't particularly care if I missed out. And if someone else can save time by seeing [Gay Road Trip First-Time Kidnap Romance] in a thread title and say to themselves "hey, I never bother reading gay road trip first-time kidnap romances, that just doesn't sound like my kind of thing at all" and they don't even have to spend the few minutes out of their lives to click open that thread and ascertain that indeed, gay road trip first-time kidnap romances are not of interest to them at all, then that, too is a Good Thing™. ![]() Because right now, there are 19 threads on the front page alone just for individually-named free books from the semi-major sources and those few minutes x 19 add up if there's mystery meat navigation "hey kids, let's guess what's inside this one!" involved. * There's a reason why there's a popular icon floating around which captions a ![]() |

Well, ATD, I'm not surprised, it was merely a comment, not an indication of astonishment. And I simply said how I felt about the practice. And I didn't write a complaint of any length directly to you, but to the MR Community - as I said, I was unaware you were responsible for all the tags. The example I used was exactly that, an example of a factor I wanted to know people's thoughts on, which I didn't need to such an extent - not just having a go at you, although I appreciate your thoughts on it, of course. So in fact I did say what I "meant" i.e. asking a question, and indicating my own feelings on the subject. And as for your opinion that the work I only now realise you do in this area, is a waste of time, I'm afraid I can't comment, only you know how that stacks up, but I am surprised you should think that. These detailed tags aren't my cup of java, but that doesn't apply for a lot of other members. So, I appreciate it might be a lot of work, but hardly a waste of time, surely. Rather a service that some like to have, as I'm sure many more will confirm. |

Well, when you make a point of describing quite thoroughly how you are put off even considering trying books which you think you might otherwise perhaps have enjoyed due to having the element of whatever removed by something in particular that I do in a thread where I do it, along with a veiled suggestion for behavioural modification more to your liking, then I'm sorry, but that does indeed come across as a specific complaint.
For general soliciting of opinions, with or without specific examples, we have a perfectly good Feedback forum which hey, posters even occasionally use! And yes, this is all indeed a profound waste of my time and no, I am not interested in providing any form of "service". I basically post things to this forum in conjunction with my own amusement. When I am no longer amused, I will no longer post. And that's really all there is to it. |

@ATDrake
I very much appreciate all the time and effort you put into tracking down and posting deals. I hope it continues to amuse you. |
