I'm in the Read-and-Delete group.
A few are kept for a short while if I've made notes, but are deleted when the notes have been dealt with. Most often these involve corrections made to master copy. Sometimes they will be early books in a series retained for reference until the series has completed. I do have a small number of books "permanently" on the reader as reference books. Some a purely for reference and some are non-fiction works I've read cover-to-cover and am keeping for future reference. |

Read and delete. My ebook collections are my unread books, which in theory I sideload/download on acquisition. More times than I care to remember, however, I find that the reader in my possession unaccountably doesn’t have the book I’m reading on another device.
I do have a small collection of favorite public domain books on my readers, although I don’t reread at all anymore (except for book clubs). But they’re there if I’m in the mood or desperate, and it makes me smile to see them. |

I have about 850 books in mine. They are organized into 8 pages of collections. Since the Titles, pub dates and some authors are edited the cloud wouldn't download the corect info for my books. I also like having all my books right with me. I hate using the cloud. I never turn on my internet connection on my reader. All books are loaded via USB. Also my archive has no collections so it would take up to 90 pages of looking through the archive to find a particular book. Looking through 8 pages of my collections is quicker and I don't even need to connect to a wi-fi spot to do so.

I never delete anything other than library books off my device. I'm using 19% of the storage on my Nook and 4% of the storage on my SD card. Once I start running out of space I might think about deleting stuff.

I only delete books I dislike immensely or have no intention of reading again. BUT I'm seriously re-thinking this & probably will delete all books I finish in the future...Unless it is a book I think I might read again.

I keep all of my books on my reader, I have 507 books on it right now. I do a lot of rereading so having all my books on there comes in handy.

Ever since I started using Calibre to send ebooks to my reader, loading time (for covers, etc) is practically non-existent so I barely have to deal with any performance issues. I also make use of Calibre's catalog function and have an epub containing synopses, etc. of the books in my library. Since the PRS-350 doesn't support metadata descriptions, having a catalog makes browsing or searching for books easier. Combined with PRSPlus' sub-collections support, it's easy to just keep a ton of books on the reader and still have them all organized and easy to find. |

I have some 1700+ ebooks, all on my iPad. Actually, I have many of them in two formats, one for the kindle reader, one for iBooks. Neither the Kindle app nor the iBook app seem to have a big problem with that many books.
I never delete books, simply because I like having all my books available to me. It would be real nice if there was a good library app that let me organize my books in various ways and then read in iBooks or Kindle, but so far, that app has't shown up. |

I purge and reload my Kindle periodically every few weeks but since the vast majority of my purchases are non-Amazon, at some point I want to build up and maintain a permanent onboard collection of at least the favourites I'm most likely to reread.
However, outside of the purges I don't delete books once I've finished reading, because for most of them I don't have "the cloud" directly accessible from my device. |

I have 130 each on my two e-ink devices and about 50 on my Kindle Fire. I read and delete unless it is something I plan on rereading or using for reference. Some books will be permanent residents - The Lord of the Rings, for example.
I just don't want to have too many books to find what I want - 9 collections on the home screen. The rest are regularly backed up onto my computer and back up drive and loaded up into calibre. Dean |

Member of the read and delete group. Since I am not a re-reader they only get in the way.

I sometimes re-read favorite books. I'll load a ton of books on my Kindle, and delete them after I've read them, but they're all backed up on my computer, backup drive, and a memory stick.
