Try updating to calibre 0.8.46 as well, it contains updated Qt libraries, which are supposed to have fixed this bug. (The previous fix was a workaround that I implemented in calibre code for the bug in Qt).

I Knew about the Move command. Somehow I just did not think it applied to a Child window

It works for any window which has a title bar.

I notice that Calibre automatically stores the position of the "Edit Metadata" window between runs of the program. Wouldn't this mean that the window would be displayed in its stored position, even if it wouldn't be displayed in that position by default?

The OP is (I think) talking about the download metadata window. The position for which is not stored.

Yes, that works but it has to be redone every time I edit the metadata. I'm hoping for a more long term solution.

Updated today and it didn't help. I can live with it; it's just irritating, not a major issue.

There's something funny going on there. If you move the window, Calibre should remember the new window position and put it back there the next time you display the window. That's certainly the way it behaves for me.

That certainly makes more sense so I tried an experiment. I opened the edit metadata window as usual, opened the download metadata window as usual, and moved the download metadata window till it was fully visible. Then I opened the task manager and closed calibre. When I started calibre again, the download metadata window was visible. I have no idea why this worked but it did so I'm not complaining.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Ah, my apologies. I thought it was "Edit Metadata".

Well that fix was temporary. I guess I'll learn to live with it; as I said previously, it's an irritant, not a major isse.

I think I should have stayed at 8.45. Everything was fine, and working like a charm. I updated to .46 (I like to keep up to date on software) and the problem is back again in 8.46. I hit the download metadata button, and the results are off the screen again. Still, grabbing the bottom edge of the window, and moving it down seems to move the top edge down as well so I can read the first title in the list. I don't know if this helps, but I have windows 7 64 bit and a widescreen monitor.

I have a widescreen on all my systems. XP, Ubuntu and W7 and never have seen this.

Yeah I'm lucky like that. I always seem to find weird problems in computerized systems that no one else seems to get. Never fails.

You aren't totally alone; I thought the gremlins (AKA undocumented features) were after me.
