And what happened the " I'd rather eat worms than fill in this poll" option, if you please ? Too controversial ?

Browsed one at an Airport, made notes, then downloaded the ebooks. |

Christmas, maybe. I'm going to the library less and less, too. In fact, I could last a few years with what I have on my reader now.

Poll did not ask when was the last time you bought pbook. I stop by the B&N in the train station several times per week, just to see if anything catches my eye. I then note it and look for it online in ebook form. |

I remember both the Waterstones stores here used to have Sony e-readers advertised heavily and on display but the large store shut and I can't remember the last time I saw one or any mention of them in the remaining shop... I assume they stopped selling them due to lack of demand. WH Smith next door have a pretty prominent (albeit small) display of Kobo readers, thought the demo unit ran out of battery power quite a while ago!

I visit several used bookstores on an at least weekly basis. When looking for a book I first check to see if it is available as an ebook. iF it's available and it isn't and agency book and it under $10, I will buy it. If not I look for it at the library. If it isn't available there I look for it used. I will not buy any paper book new. Not at the current publishers' over inflated prices. i.e Rex Stout's Death of Dude carries a cover price of $22. Then there are all those paperbacks from the 50's, 60's & 70's, long out of print and probably orphaned either by chance or design. There's a lot of very good reading there especially in contrast to all the fantasy treif that being dumped on the market these days. I wander into Indigo from time to time to look at what is remaindered but to buy, I just go across the street to BMV. In Toronto, Elliot's Books, downtown is three floors of a reader's paradise. |

Today, bought a street map of Brussels. Was in a different bookshop yesterday and spontaneously bought a nice edition of Roald Dahl stories for the kids. As I have more than half a dozen good bookstores within walking distance of my home and my office I tend to step into a bookshop about six times a week.

I used to visit Borders all the time. Since I began to order from Amazon and also since I received my Kindle3 (October 2010), it is a rare event for me now to visit a bookstore. If I am in the area of one, I will drop in if I have the time, but I can’t remember when that last occurred. Borders was the closest bookstore and before that, I used to haunt Waldenbooks. I do like to check out independent bookstores when I see one in my travels, but I do not run across many in my everyday routine. |
