Very odd about the $17.99 mmpb. I would understand it if it were fulfilled by or sold by another vendor through Amazon, then it would be a marked up rarity. But I have not seen Amazon markup rare books themselves? They sell news books for list or cheaper, and remaindered books for cheaper. How does an Amazon book get to be MORE expensive than list?

Oh I just came up with my own theory. Hachette has marked up the mmpb to $17.99 (even though they might not even have any stock of it) to make the $9.99 ebook look cheap!

I'm showing the MMPB to be released March 17th 2012. It's not out yet.

I wonder if they have to pay CBS (and/or the producers) licensing fees also.

It really is, I promise. I've had it on my shelf for about 15 years.

It wouldn't be CBS. It was an independently produced syndicated show. I know that Warner Aspect paid a licensing fee to do the novels in the first place, but IDK if they owe royalties. Even if they did, they'd generate more royalties if the books were priced reasonably.

I wonder if it's a deal where going forward, since the MMPB has been OOP for a while, it will now be print on demand and that's why the "new" price of $17.99 for the March 17th 2012 release.

It's been out of print for years so the March 17th date would be a re-release of some kind. (likely POD)
