It's just an issue with the anchor placements on the notes page. Just move the anchor ID from the to the
like this:
9. Around 1923
TO
9. Around 1923
I made this change on your sample file using Sigil, converted in Calibre with standard settings, and tested the MOBI in Kindle previewer. Works great. I had this same annoying issue when I was making a custom ToC last year. Gotta love MOBI--the black hole to my time and energy. ![]() -Adam |

OK, I've fixed the links jumping to the endnotes. The links jumping back work as well as they can given the way Mobipocket works (or in this case doesn't).
I've cleaned up the CSS and I've made each endnote on a separate page. I had to move the anchors to jump to because of the bug in Mobipocket that also effects the jump back link. I move the anchors to in front of the link in the endnotes. That fixed the jump to. But there is nothing you can do with jumping back. It's a bug in Mobipocket. ePub works fine. However, in Mobipocket Reader for Windows, instead of using the link to go back, I can click the back arrow to go back and that work. |

So if I move all the anchors before the links on the endnotes, that will fix the jump to? Do the notes have to be one to a page for it to work? Could I move the jump back anchors to before the paragraphs to get the jump back to at least jump to the correct paragraph, if not the correct spot? I don't want to mess up my epub, but maybe I could make a copy just to edit for conversion to Mobi. Is there a better way to get to Kindle than Mobi? I saw the other thread about the new Kindle Fire format. Should I be going that route instead of Mobi? Does it have the same bug?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help. |

Just make a copy of the EPUB and test it out. Unless your book makes use of some Fire features I would say stick to maximum compatibility. If you have a ton of links it will definitely be annoying but wasting your time is the #1 feature of MOBI format ![]() |

Settings in MS Word affect references
IF you were using Microsoft Word to compose the original document then you may have set the References Footnote or Endnote wrongly. Go to References section. This advice from Word Help:
Click References and then click the small arrow to open the Footnote and Endnote box. In the Footnote and Endnote box, select the options you want. Before you click Insert, choose where you want to apply the changes—the whole document or the section you’re in. To choose where you want to put footnotes, click Footnotes and then click Bottom of page or Below text. To choose where you want to put endnotes, click Endnotes and then click End of section or End of document. |
