Okay, haven't pinned the problem down much. Besides the 4,900 I loaded yesterday, I loaded another 6449 today, all in different Collections than the first batch. All Collections looked good, without the "Removing" problem.
So I went back in, removed 51 books from three Collections I loaded yesterday, re-tagged them with a new tag, and re-loaded them. The new Collection is fine, as is the three Collections they were removed from. So I still don't know what triggers it. If I run across it again, and can figure out just when they show up, I'll post again. Other than that, I'm afraid to mess with it too much now that it's working! |

Solved!
I think I have found the root cause of the issue, my dad's ereader was showing that odd behaviour, I did two things at once (not the smartest troubleshooting technique but I had spent too much time trying to resolve it). I believe the cause of the problem is that some of the books had two formats (EPUB and ORIGINAL_EPUB) and I think that was confusing the ereader... I deleted the old formats in calibre (clicking on edit metadata and then deleting the old version at the right hand side of the window), just in case I deleted all the books from the eReader, manually deleted the collections and then reload all the books, problem solved.
The other thing I did was changing the way the tags are managed, setting it up to automatic (the option is under the device menu). I hope it helps! ![]() |

I don't have Calibre set to creat Oringinal_epubs when I convert. Or, I think I got it turned off. I'll recheck. Otherwise, it seems to be a problem when I delete books from a collection. If I remove all the books from a collection, eject the reader and let it sort so that the collection disapears because theres' nothing in it, it seems to be okay if I reload them all again. But later, if I've deleted a book and go back in, the problem shows up again. I can only guess the database isn't cleaning up after itself very well? |

I don't think calibre sends the original_epubs to the reader. It isn't in the list of available formats.
I only send epubs to my Sonys and so far I haven't had 'this' problem Helen |

Has anyone found a true resolution to this yet? I just started loading books to my reader tonight and already have pages of Removing... I always waited until the reader was in data transfer mode to do anything. I don't want to have to delete all the books in a collection every time I go to add something new. I am using Calibre tags as collections. Thanks.
OK, I deleted everything but the user manual and started over. When I loaded just 1 collection to the SD card I still have about 7 pages of Removing... From the Books option on the Home page there are 96 books loaded but under the collection it shows 161 books. I have tried deleting the Removing... lines within the reader but they don't go away and they don't show in Calibre. Last edited by bookfanmd; 03-16-2012 at 12:48 AM. Reason: more info |

@bookfanmd,
Is your problem with a PRST1 (I don't see it in your current device list)? If so, are you using a removable SD card? There are known problems with the T1/SDcard/Calibre combination. Try removing the SD card (temporarily) and send some books from Calibre to the T1 int.mem. Do you still get the same problem? |

Yes it is the T1. I'll have to update the list. I am using an SD card. I'll remove and try to go to main memory this evening.

@bookfanmd,
If the problem with the books in SD, remove the collections that have 'removing', after that connect to calibre (need twice), and your colletions content will be cleared from 'removing'. But if this happened with the books in main memory the problem still exist. This happened to my PRST-1 also soetimes. |
