Whether the feature needs to be modified to allow you to overrule the selection to change the file type is another question. Right now if you modify xhtml to html you get .html.xhtml If its really needed, you could submit an issue about it, but it probably isn't a real issue.
The file I want to rename is .html and I want to make it .xhtml which technically is what it is supposed to be - I think.

The file is declared as xhtml in the manifest of the opf file, and it contains valid xhtml—which is enough. The extension is just that... an extension. Yes it would be nice if you could make them match the rest of your files, but it's not going to break validation or any functionality if the extension is html.

EDIT: AFAIK (without that disclaimer... someone will surely come along with a situation that makes me out a liar)

I have been using Sigil for quite a while, I think since version 3 and have found it a great piece of software.

Thank you to the original creator Strahinja Marković and the new developer John Schember for the great work.

Now that I am done sucking up, I have run into a problem with version 5 and 5.1.
The problem arises when doing any S/R the window panes get readjusted and I have no way of resizing the windows back to normal.
Let me see if I can get a screen-shot to illustrate. The first shot is before doing a S/R to remove some blank lines. The windows are lay the way I normally work.

The second screen-shot shows the windows rearranged and unable to reorganised.

Hope someone will be able to shed some light into this, as I have to close Sigil and restart to be able to adjust the window panes.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks.

Crashes while search and replace seam to be gone.

I've a problem, renaming file extensions as well, sigil adds the new extension in front of the old one (Windows XP)

About removing files: why not copy them into a "wastebasket" (a special folder in the users data) before deleting them ? Then they could always imported again if neccessary.

I checked to see if the cursor went to the current tab. It doesn't. But this has become strange.

This doesn't happen if I am going down the file - only if I am going up the file. Example:
The files are named sequentially from XYZ_split_000 to XYZ_split_050. I go to XYZ_split_005 and right click then select rename. I then type in C1 and without any intervening keystrokes I right click the file below. This closes C1 and allows me to again select rename. ---But---

If I scroll down and right click XYZ_split_045 and rename it C45 and then right click XYZ_split_044 the book browser displays the top of the files and highlights a file in the middle of the display. Very strange.

*****Mistake in describing symptoms*****
Example:
I go to any file and right click. I then select "rename" and enter the new file name and without any intervening keystrokes right click any other file. It will close the current file and allows me to again select rename and continue. ---But---

This only works if the top entry of the book browser is in the display window. If the top entry is not shown, the right clicking of the next file will close the current file renamed and highlight a file further up the display window after re-displaying from the top. Which file it highlights is based on its own algorithm using the number of files hidden and which file is selected for renaming.

I hope this makes sense - it confuses me.

Regards and thanks for all your work - John

Sigil 0.5.1 is crashing on me (Vista 32-bit) whenever I try to add a font file using the context menu (right-click... "Add Existing Files"). Any font file whatsoever.

It seems to work fine, however, when using the menu-based File->New->Add Existing File(s)...

Issue 1129, already fixed. I'll be putting out 0.5.2 later this week which will be a very small bug fix release.

Great! Sooner or later... I'm gonna remember to check the official bug list first.

In 5.2 a warning will now be given again when deleting a file, and the selection will move to the next/appropriate file.

Renaming will now stay on the selected file (or last file of multiple rename).

And the multiple selection will sort items correctly since I found it wasn't sorting right in 5.1.

Thanks for reporting these. If there's anything else just post - especially anything major, but also those small but bothersome issues.

Another small glitch

When going from BV to CV the cursor position is displayed in the CV window. When going from CV to BV the cursor maintains its position but is not displayed in the BV window. You must scroll to locate the cursor.

Yeah, known issue, and very annoying, but will likely have to wait until the Book View editor is replaced with something more predictable.
