You can not read an iBook file on anything except an Apple device running the iBook app.
The iBook app uses proprietary code that displays in a way that no other file will. (Fixed Layout) However, Amazon and others are working on theirs as well. With any luck, at some point in time, most readers will all agree on a set code. Of course Amazon and Apple will always play outside the rules for their own selfish reasons. |

The change is a good one. As I said on a previous thread, I had a problem with the combination of "only sell through our store" and "we can decide not to sell if we want". Now if they decide that they don't want to sell what comes out of iBA the author can still save it as pdf and sell it like that.
