my husband and i both love the dresden files. agree that the first book isn't as strong as many of the others, but it's still better than a lot of what's out there, and is a good way to get introduced to harry and friends.

I'd also recommend the Iron Druid Series by Kevin Hearne. The 4th book will be published in a couple months and the first 3 were excellent!
Hounded Hexed Hammered A 2000 year old Druid is alive and well in Arizona running a bookstore, enjoying fish and chips at a local pub, hiding from the sidhe and matching wits against some witches. |

Thanks for the recommendation, Rich_D! The Iron Druid Series sounds most promising!
![]() Edit: Luckily, my library has all 3 books. #1 is on hold for me now! ![]() Last edited by Filark; 02-07-2012 at 03:02 AM. |

I like the Dresden files. Don't love them but like them.
Just finished Blood Rites two days ago and must admit I am still confused. Good guys become bad guys, bad guys become good guys. Subplots within the subplots. Hoards of undead etc. defused by the channelling of Harry's will or the mere bellowing of Fuego etc. I am sure it will settle into my brain in time, but at the moment it seems like some massive effort to include as many former characters in one book as possible and set up storylines for the next 27 or so. Not that setup is bad but does it all have to be done at once, and how many of these characters can be major players in every book. Time will tell I guess. Helen |

Just finished number two. Some good parts and some annoying parts. Feelings while reading ranged from a 4 star to a 2 star so will give it 3 stars.
