This includes 2+ years of (New/Updated) Device support alone,
Having never run Calibre I'm not even sure what that means but my main concern would be being able to view and convert between ePub, Mobi and (rarely) Text offline, and being able to view these files on the computer.
Anything else I can manage manually but, from what I've read, there's a chance the device support may not be critical if the computer can see the eReader as 1 or 2 new drive(s) through the USB connection, which mine can.

You need a true DOS based computer that's fairly well updated to handle the new game levels for that. i.e.. Even though the game was designed for a 386 with about 8 meg of ram the new WAD files often require at least a P200 with 32 meg of ram to keep from slowing to a crawl..
I know about the 'Real DOS' issue
I wrote multi-user POS application in Paradox DOS (used a Netware 4.2) server that needed real RS232 ports, the ability to shell out to a true DOS session to FAX orders (DOS FAX Pro). There is a P3-800 w/W98 under my desk, just in case I need to resurrect old data (the business is done/ closed.)

Well.. I got that version and the installer just gets started and I run into an error message saying ..invalid command name "twapi::get_process_ids"

Checking for it online it's hard to tell if it's a 'Needs a newer version of Windows' error or something else.. What's annoying is, Googling I keep finding references to Calible supporting Windows 98 up to mid-07 versions but it doesn't seem to work that way in real life. Looks like I may have to shelve the Calibre idea for now until I upgrade something.
