I would question that !

In fact, I doubt whether anyone fits into that description - except, obviously, yourself, by the sound of it ?

(To date, for example, Sonyites haven't even been able to, even if they wanted to - which I somehow doubt.)

I'd be interested hearing where the "most" is coming from. My mother is not techie and she's already railing against DRM because she has a Sony and Dad is thinking about a Kindle. She was excited that any books he gets, she can read on her device, and was upset when I said, "well, yes, but only via certain processes".

It's actually pretty easy to bump into DRM issues. "You're reading Hunger Games on your eReader? I want to read that! Can I borrow it when you're done?" "Well, no, because..."

I only have 4 authorized devices although I have more devices.

Maybe I am a bit frugal having been brought up in a world where there was only one authorized device, the physical book itself. One book, one reader. I managed to overcome this handicap and read the books, even if they weren't instantly available at all times.

If I forgot my book at home, on occasion I read the newspaper.

And so as a relic of the ancient past I manage to survive without having all of my devices authorized. My WII and XBOX, one of my tablets and my TV resent it, but so far I have been able to resist the pressure.

Well, it must be very nice for you to have joined the Adobe game late enough to have that privilege. I have as many computers and e-Readers as I do because I've upgraded as needed for functionality. I didn't, surprisingly, just go to the local Best Buy and say FILL UP THE CART, STEVE, I'VE GOT LICENSES TO BURN!

Yes I did join late in the game. Less than 3 years ago. And I have deauthorized two computers. I am probably just not as fast a reader, less than 2 pages per minute, so I don't need an ebook on more than two devices at a time. Actually only one in most instances.

I am lucky that I can actually read more than one book at a time, without losing track of the other, so if I don't have the book on the device I have with me I just read a different book. Still I understand that is not the case for all, so sorry I said anything.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but deauthorizing a computer does not get you your license back. If it did, I'd be sitting pretty, too.

You've really never heard of loaning a book to a friend when you're done? Seriously? With the stricter DRM schemes, the only way to loan one ebook to a friend when you're done with it is to loan your entire library to said friend until he's done.

My understanding is that Adobe promises ADE Reader for Linux but never delivered. How are you running it? Under WINE?

To be honest, I'm not sure that I want ADE Reader on Linux. Adobe Flash and Adobe (PDF) Reader have been responsible for a disproportionate number of security holes. In fact any DRM platform is going to be closed source and suspect.
