Jon, I've recently been using Import EPUB in Toxaris' Epub Tools addin to do this, maybe all it does is what you suggest. But one-click, select the Epub, and its done - retains all the formatting, headers etc.

And you get to keep all the other goodies in Epub Tools

Yup, and if you have multiple stylesheets attached to the ePUB files, they are taken into account. However, there are restrictions unfortunately. SVG is not supported and only CSS1 attributes. At the moment there is no way around that, but should normally not be a very big problem.
