Tempting but no I couldn't do that. These authors are just starting out and so I try to be fair in just pointing out issues I had with the book but this one author was too sensitive I guess.

I still have a few up that aren't raving but I've stop leaving them until GoodReads can come up with a way to protect the reviewer.

I keep thinking someday I'll review a book and the author will attempt to correct me. Heh. I look forward to the opportunity to point out that reviews are written for other readers, not for the author, and if I were planning to lie about a book, it generally wouldn't be to insult it. (Also, I would relish the opportunity to shout across the blogosphere the name of an author stupid enough to tell me directly that I shouldn't be critisizing their books.)

Some of the all-squee reviews I question--did they *really* think this book was absolutely awesome, or did they just kind-of enjoy it, but it hit their buttons well or they generally like the author or they loved the cover? I have more trust for reviews with some critique in them.
