It really does. I love Calibre! It seems when it doesn't do something I need I only need to wait a bit and then it's added.

Like I wanted so long for a way to auto remove Font Family and Colors from epubs and then behold a few months back that was added and I no longer have to manually tweak style sheets anymore to work in Mantano. Now I just check three boxes and hit convert. It's great! Works for mobi too.

The only slight niggle I've noted in doing it this way is that Whispersync puts files directly into the documents folder, whereas Calibre creates subfolders for authors; so you could end up with multiple copies of the same book, stored in different places by Whispersync and Calibre.

It's no problem, and easy enough to tidy up, just a little wrinkle.

This is a really good idea. I can't believe I didn't think of this.

In Calibre you can configure the Kindle plugin, there is checkbox somewhere there. You can uncheck this and and then when uploading the mobi files to Kindle then the files are placed directly in the /documents folder. But, apparently, someone else on the forum said that if there are many books (of the order of thousands) the performance will decrease if files are placed directly under /documents.
