You can import your collections from K2 to your K4. I think the K2 is allowed. There is an option for that under Archive Items on the K4. So you wont need to remake them. You will have to redownload your Amazon books but non amazon books can be copy directly to your new Kindle. Another way to do is to make the collections in K4PC and import them to the K4. The only problem with this is the non Amazon books have to be an exact copy so you have to copy them from K4PC's folder to your Kindle because it modifies the file. I don't even notice the ads. So I say they are not intrusive. Last edited by Blossom; 01-21-2012 at 03:44 PM. |

@Alanspace and Synamon: Thanks for the information about the DRM tools. I will ensure to look into them before I do any transfer of data.
@WVCherrybomb: The information about the ads and using Calibre is greatly appreciated. I have an odd-ball (US) address, it is sometimes hard to get items shipped here, and all the Kindles available to us are ad supported. It puts my mind at ease knowing I can disable the ads on the K4. @Martyd and Blossom: Wow, I did not realize that there is a difference in contrast between Kindles. So I am looking at an upgrade of image quality as well. This is definitely something to think about. I have noticed that Calibre gets mentioned quite often. It seems that I have been under utilizing this program. I am going to have to dig deeper into the capabilities of this wonderful program. It looks like it is more than a metedata editor. ![]() Thank you all for the information. I feel more comfortable now than before about upgrading. Your help has been greatly appreciated. |

I have both Kindles (2 and 3) on one account, and can download any purchased (or free) book that I obtained from Amazon onto either device or to both devices.

Thank you to everyone for the advice and information. I bought a Kindle 4 NT today. Everything transferred fine. I have to say that I am impressed with the display compared to my Kindle 2. The smaller size is going to take some getting used to, but that is no problem.
Thanks again for eveything. |
