When you tap, you are pressing in one place. When you swipe, you are not actually pressing in one place. You are gliding over the screen. Tapping leaves more of a fingerprint as swiping is akin to wiping the screen.

1. My updated suggestion will not break current design.
2. I already have the T1. Maybe you will not have any complain after you buy anything, but that is not the case for all the people.
3. I don't hold high hope for Sony to listen either.

I don't want the post wander from constructive discussion, so I'm trying my best not arguing with you, just stating my point. You don't have to agree me on any point, I don't care. My word with you stop here after I've stated my points.

I like it just the way it is. For many people swipe is more intuitive than tapping is.

PRS+ for the 350-650-950 allows selecting tap vs. swipe. I was extremely enthusiastic... then I tried it and realized that swiping works better (for me at least). Tap would create all sorts of problems when trying to get the dictionary to work or when clicking on note superscripts... Also, swipe allows to move forward/backward without having to move your finger from a specific screen area (whereas the tap is specific to a certain section of the screen).

Said so, having option is always good. I can't believe SONY does not provide that as an option - and, even more, I am surprised by the opposition to a very reasonable suggestion.

The way I see it - OP is asking for the OPTION to tap. What's wrong with that? having options makes everyone happy... I wouldn't use it myself, but why the hostility?

While I agree with you, sometimes you don't know ahead of time what drives you crazy until you've had the device for a while. Having the option to configure is nice. For example, I didn't know that you couldn't set justification on the T1 until after I'd bought it. The photo on the box showed a justified page. Only thanks to workarounds like DRM removal, calibre and Morkl's version of Reader is it possible for me to have a choice. Choice is good.

Pretty much. I wasn't trying to be hostile or argumentative or anything like that. I was merely pointing out a fact that they're not going to change. We either deal with it or we don't.

Yes as we use a device more we may come to like this feature more and prefer A over B but then the option is to return it and get one that suits our liking from the choices presented by various manufacturers. We don't have any other choices. It is what it is. Take it or leave it. Nothing is ever going to be perfect so we choose what works best for us is most circumstances. *shrugs*

The recent sony firmware addressed a bug:

This utility updates the PRS-T1 firmware to version 1.0.04.12210 and provides the following benefits:

Improvements over system software version 1.0.03.11140:

Resolves an issue where using a very short page flick to turn a page may accidentally select words and start the dictionary lookup

This is exactly the problem I mentioned. With this problem solved, the swipe function will work better.

It seemed that using "we" everywhere gave you a false sense of authority. You are announcing fact and rules, and every mortal have to obey.

Sony may have different opinion with you. They just fixed the problem I mentioned in post #13. Where is your "fact" now? How dare sony change?

Thank you for your posts. The new update today, while not directly addressing all your points, may change the page turn operation more to your liking:

Wow did you ever misunderstand what I said. I'm not even going to bother addressing your interpretation because I'm rather fearful that you wouldn't be able to comprehend it either.

Oh and Sony didn't address the tapping vs swiping thing. They only allegedly improved the swiping as some users couldn't do it properly. It's still a swipe not a tap.

Did I say that firmware update was tapping? Read my post again. You either don't understand simple reasoning, or you just deliberately twist other people's words.

And this classic excuse: "some users couldn't do it properly".

This is actually the reason I bought my T1. I liked that it just .... did stuff, and kept doing stuff. I like that I can cram all my books on there and sort them by category. I like that I can swipe, read books in landscape mode if i feel like it, and if I don't feel like swiping, there are the buttons.
