I tried what the guy in the store suggested today.. open up the kobo desktop and wait a few minutes before connecting my kobo. But the kobo desktop eject still failed as usual.

I turned off the firewall and the anti-virus and tried again,... nope.

I give up. The kobo is buggy but it does work. If it gets worse I will return it.

The computer I use mainly, had vista, but I tried it on our other computer and it runs windows 7. Same results.

Anyways, Thank you for all your replies -Tanya
Hmm.. It is possible that Your Kobo is not at fault.. Have you tried plugging your KT into another computer and ejecting? It could be something on your computer (background app, foreground app, Windows Explorer, Media programs, OS itself on your particular hardware configuration) that is causing the error to occur.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't know what my computer thinks is still accessing my Kobo, though, as I've tried to Eject and also tried to Safely Remove Hardware after I've closed everything!

Really, I've just given up and will leave it plugged in until I shut down. I'll most likely be getting a new computer sometime "soon", anyway.

Lightbulb HotSwap!

I just found the tool HotSwap. There is a 32-bit and 64 bit version. Works perfectly for me and lives in the systray. Configuration for the Kobo: right click on tray icon -> 'Device Type'. Then check 'Removable disc drives' AND 'Safely removable devices'. The rest is self explanatory.
