Perhaps I am still doing something wrong.
You are confusing "folders" and "collections". What you're talking about are collections, not folders. Collections are not folders.

I mostly dislike that all of my iBooks can only be read on my iPad. I have had my iPad for 2 years and if it dies I will be forced to buy another iPad or Apple device to read my books. Because of this I try to diversify my purchases.
Also for my birthday in May I am going to buy a new laptop so will I be able to transfer my books to a new laptop?
I was sitting here watching the Australian Open and reading my emails and then I went to MR and saw your post.....
I advise avoiding iBooks purchases whenever possible, mostly for the reason you mentioned.

I have to do some work stuff and I'll be back later. We'll start with your Nook because that's the easiest. In the meantime, I'm sending you a PM with some general overview information.

I'd have to agree with CWatkinsNash here, I avoid ibooks for that reason. I prefer amazon kindle store. Most kindle books are cheaper anyway than ibooks and I can put them into calibre and read them on other devices including my ipad in ibooks (the kindle app isn't my favorite for reading). Having said that, sometimes I can't purchase a title from the kindle store due to region blocking. Doesn't happen often but it does happen. I wouldn't care if the titles were actually available in the Australian market, but sometimes they aren't available anywhere grrrr.

I also am a newbie with silly problem. I accidentally hit a few news feed items, and for the life of me I cannot see how to lose them. Rober Ebert is now obsolete, and yet it still is clogging up my JOBS queue every time I run Calibre, vainly searching for more news. How can I undo a news subscription?

Wow, many thanx! I feel somewhat vindicated; it is not a super easy thing to find, imho...
