Except my software is called eBook transfer for Reader and is in Japanese.
I think this is where all the problems emanate from. Sony has an entirely different set of APIs for the Japanese version of their devices. |

One solution would be to register Windows ADE to your Adobe account (which I assume you alrready have done), load your purchased book into ADE, and then use "the tools" to strip the DRM. Once the book is DRM-free, you can then load it onto your T1.

Smashwords definitely does. I just always check for reviews elsewhere to try and see if the book is decent. (Only because there are often 100+ reviews of a book on Amazon and under 5 reviews of the same book on Smashwords.)
Many authors selling their books on their own websites do too. Michael A. Stackpole comes to mind but you probably wouldn't like his stuff (fantasy/sci-fi). +1 for BeWrite. Never been disappointed there. Last edited by banjobama; 01-14-2012 at 04:23 PM. Reason: adding info |

I have started to consider the teachings of that sage known as Apprentice Alf. Annoys the hell out of me though since everything is properly paid for. The myopia of global corporations never seize to surprise me.

You should not have to worry about it, since as you said everything is properly paid for. Not sure how Sweden interprets copyright laws, but you are not going to distribute said DRM-stripped copyrighted material, right? If you use ADE, you can have more than 1 device (what is the limit? 5 ?). So it would not be a problem of having a copy of the copyrighted book on your computer AND simultanously on your reader.

No intent to distribute, only possession. Misdemeanor, right?

You can also use paypal at http://bookdepository.co.uk and they sold me a book in Spain that Waterstones wouldn't so it looks like they might ignore geographic restrictions so it may help you.

Whoa, can't believe how easy that was. Considering all the effort the publishing industry puts into DMR a certain Cervantes charachter comes to mind. Apprentice Alf is a great gal, more cheesecake to her.

I was surreptitiously referring to something else.

It was actually a cinch to do it with Calibre and a plug-in. A lot easier than I had anticipated. I did have to remove the book and add it again, but once that was done I now have it on my PRS-T1 and I am actually reading it right now.
Me thinks we should all make a small contribution and buy a small island or something for Apprentice Alf. ![]() |

Not to mentions the sense of freedom and relief. Ok, I won't be able to use the WiFi and synchronisation feature, but at least now I can get any book on my Reader, be it Kindle or Sony.
