I bought a K3 for portability and because I wanted the Cloud Dragon in red sleeve from Oberon.
The DXG is just a bit too big for me when I am traveling, I wanted something smaller that could fit in my purse. And I really liked that sleeve, so what the hey. I am not tempted by the Kindle Touch, I like landscape mode and I think that the next iteration will be better then the current iteration. |

If there were a perfect device, I'd buy it once and stick with it. I haven't found that device yet. So, I use the devices that I do have in different ways.
The Kindle Touch is the reader I use when reading in bed, or going to the gym, as the integrated light and touch screen are great for both. I read on the Kindle DX during the day when I'm at home, as I prefer the large screen and I can keep it on a stand on my table. I read on my Sony or Boox when I want to read an ePub book. I tend to have three or four books going at a time, one on each device. |

I've only had an e-reader for a couple of years. But I've upgraded already. As soon as I found a Sony 350 I got it & used it over my K3 & Nook Classic. When it went to a T1 I got that . When Kindle came out with a touch screen I got it. I'm not so sure I'll upgrade further unless something major comes along.

I'll stick with my first ereader until it dies. Just like I drive my cars until the wheels fall off before replacing them. I'm very much an "if it ain't broke, don't replace it" kind of guy.
Still a true geek at heart, though... just a frugal one. ![]() Last edited by DiapDealer; 01-14-2012 at 11:37 AM. |

I just upgraded my Sony 600 which I had for almost two years to the T1 only because of the extremely good deal they had over the holiday.
I will now most likely keep this one till it dies. |

So far I've only upgraded once, and that's because my first generation Nook died. I think in the future I'll either wait until my device dies, or upgrade if there is a really serious improvement in technology.

I listen to music on speakers (hint: 16 ohm) I bought when I graduated from High School
![]() My vehicles have 100K+ miles on the clock. I have Mono (and Stereo and Quad)-LP's, Open Reel tape, Laser Discs and the equipment to play them on. I am the kind of person that keeps it until I can't fix it (for a reasonable cost). ![]() |

I'm happy with my K3 Kindle Keyboard 3G, so I didn't feel the need to upgrade to one of the newer models.
I did consider the Kindle Fire, but I decided that a tablet would meet my needs better. I bought two Acer Iconia tablets (a 7" and 10.1") when they were priced low ($189 and $230, respectively), and I'll keep them until they wear out. I sometimes use the smaller one for ereading. |

I upgraded from my well-used Kindle 1 to a Kindle 3 after some debate. The difference in form factor and especially the screen quality was just too much to pass up. So, I'm in the "serious advance" column.
I also bought a Kindle Fire, but it's such a different device I don't include it as an upgrade over the Kindle 3. |

I have no choice. People have decided that the thing I want most for a gift is a new ebook reader.

When iPad 2 came out, DH offered to buy me one, and DS got my iPad 1 as a "hand me down." DS is a Nook Tablet afficionado, however, and has no interest in Kindles. I did just donate my K3 Keyboard to a friend in the hospital (she's an avid reader of old books - I mean classics). Next spring, when I'll be looking for outdoor readability (and a return to the text-to-speech function, if the Kindle Fire doesn't have it by then) I'm planning to get a Kindle Touch. |

I got my reader to read books, and it still does it well. When it doesn't, then I will upgrade.

I will upgrade when the new thing is substantially better, and I will take my time researching before I spend the money.
![]() PRS-600 was my first ereader, and I loved it. So did my Mom, so I gave it to her and upgraded to the PRS-900. Then I fell in love with the enTourage eDGe and asked for a Pocket eDGe for Christmas 2010. Had to have the big one, too (for reading at home in my comfortable chair). Realized I was no longer using my Sony so my Dad got that, whether he thought he wanted it or not (he didn't, but every time I see him he is reading it!). ![]() I am now coveting the Galaxy Note, which will partially replace my Pocket eDGe and fully replace my cellphone that I've had for 4 years. I can't imagine giving up my full-sized eDGe, but if I do the new reader will have to have Pearl eink. ![]() |
