Which explains her high rating .... bested only by the werewolves kissing romance.

Oh, ok. That's why I've never heard of her, I guess. Historical romance is not really my thing.

Alas, the thread title should have said: "10 Self-Published Novelists (out of 1 million) Who Made it Big in 2011"

I've noticed Nancy C. Johnson "Her Last Letter" and John Locke "Lethal People" both floating around on the Kobo site in fact pretty sure I've got the Locke one. Haven't heard of any of the others though

I thought the covers weren't great either. Then again, I'm very aware of the glass house I happen to be residing in...

The Cover for "The Mill River Recluse" looked ok. I just havent read it yet because it looked depressing. I normally like depressing stories, but my life has been in turmoil for a few months, and have put it on hold even though it's been on my calibre for months.

I do notice that many of these authors did not have to charge $20 for their novels

On average, I thought the covers were fine. They were a lot better then many of the (non-indie) ebooks I seem to get.

I don't care about the cover, if the blurb appeals to me I will get the book. Some of you get too caught up in the insignificant BS. I don't get a book for its cover I get it for its story.

It is kind of depressing, but it's also heartwarming. I had put it off for similar reasons and finally read it as my first book of 2012. I loved it. That said, you'll probably get more enjoyment out of it by waiting for things to settle down.

Thanks. I'll give it a read soon, then. Unfortunately I've had the flu for the past few days so my kick start 2012 reading mojo just hasn't been there... when I feel better I'll get started again.

The story may no longer be on paper, but the odds are still long.

Ha! Well, that's quite true, although quite a few are earning some decent extra income. Maybe not "I can quite my day job" income, but...
