For someone who needs stuff to be aligned perfectly, I had lots of trouble putting this on. It was also half an inch off (longer) so I had to make some adjustments using some of the left-over skin (see 4th pic, top of T1 screen). I'm not sure if it was stretched because of my pulling.

But it took the annoying glare and fingerprint problems away, so it's highly recommended!
It looks nice despite the troubles that you had! I have a DecalGirl skin on my T1 too. Mine was perfectly sized (better than the one I have on my 950). I'm very happy with it.

I put a DecalGirl skin on mine too. I found it fiddly to align it exactly, and it stretched while I was doing it, so I ended up having to cut a bit out on one side. the join is barely noticeable though, and I'm pleased with the way it looks. I didn't bother to do the back, because I couldn't see any point.

I might buy another one and see if I can fit it properly one day.

Thanks for the replies, I was hoping to avoid buying a skin, because of the added cost, I can barely afford a reader as is, but the thought of voiding the warranty hadn't even crossed my mind!

I just bought a skin for my T1 from DecalGirl. (I haven't yet received my reader, but I love the customized look of the readers with skin, and because I plan to use a only a sleeve instead of a case, I'll be holding the reader when I'm using it and thought the skin would be a nice addition.)

I was able to use a 15% off coupon, which almost covered the shipping to CA (the total cost was $20.49). The code was FANSROCK. It required an e-mail address because it's a one-use-per-email promotion. I was reading through the DecalGirl threads on these forums yesterday, and I believe there is an evergreen coupon code for 15% off at DecalGirl as well. I can't remember what it was (I had already placed my order), but it was mentioned once or twice (just search for DecalGirl and read through the threads that mention that word in the title).

I have DecalGirl skins on both my 950 and 350. The one on the 350 fit like a glove. The one on the 950 was a bit too tall, but not very noticeably.

I was more disappointed by the fact that the skin for the 950 does not cover the band above the buttons - I like the skin for the 350 much more because of that.

But, overall, a very pleasant result - and I would recommend those skins to everyone. They are not perfect, but the silver was killing me... I love the look of my readers now, I just have to figure out how to post pics here...

Oh, I also love the matching screensaver for my 950. Unfortunately, the skin for the 350 did not come with the matching screensaver...

I got the red one for that reason. The black was described as a shiny piano black and glare was the biggest complaint about it in reviews. Those who had the red ones said the glare wasn't as bad. It is a pearl red under the gloss so it doesn't seem quite as shiny.

When I was first considering the black one I also wondered about roughing up the gloss with some steel wool. Alternative solutions that don't damage the reader are not cheap and sticky covers seemed troublesome to apply. I decided not to risk "damaging" the reader and got the red one. It is working for me.

I bought a white one for just that reason, it is a bit glossy but nowhere near the glare of the black one. One wonders why the heck Sony put that shiny cover on the front, I almost decided to buy a different reader because of the glare before I noticed that the white one was in the ok range.

It is a shame retailers did not offer to show or stock any colors other than black. I never COULD find a red one on display. Even the Sony store I visited did not have one on display. Granted, it was only a couple weeks after the PRS-T1 was released but REALLY? I had to order the red one based on photos and blind faith. Luckily, I like the color and pearl finish. It isn't a flat red.

The white is also glossy. It's not a problem except, you know, around light sources when you are trying to look at the screen.

I created a matte finish by applying Scotch tape to the bezel and trimming it with a razor blade.

+1 to the matte scotch tape. That's what I did with my nook classic. You can barely tell it's there and was cheap too.

So you mean, whenever you are trying to use it. I hate electronics designers who are more interested in making a product that looks good on a showroom floor (oooooh....shiny) then they are in making a product that is usable. I had to cover my TV bezel too.

So if the Decalgirl skin is a little off, how does that go with it aligning with the screensaver?

Like the Tree of books?

It should align really well. The skin that I picked is a very complicated image. Here's a picture of it installed to give you an idea.

It's a lovely decal!!
Did you install the screensaver first and work around it with the skin?

Hello!
I'll receive my Sony T-1 (white) this week and I'm concerned with the glare, too.
Of course I'll not take action on this before I could take a view on it.
Anyway, idea is to "polish" the bezel with aceton / nail vanish remover to get a matte finish (like with Acrylglass). Does anyone have experiences with that?
