I have an address in Port Huron Michigan, and my credit cards billing address is also that Michigan address. However the card is against a Canadian bank. So although Sony says US address and credit card with a billing address in the states, their software / credit care authorization process still has issues. They (Sony tech support) then sends me off looking to buy gift cards. They tell me to go to Borders and buy them there. I've talked to Borders (several times) and nobody has ever seen the gift cards there. (some partnership Sony and Borders have going, eh) I then tried a Sony Style store (in Michigan) They have the readers, but no cards, they just say to go to the web site. Thanks, but I've already been down that road. Anybody here willing to accept some paypal from me in exchange for some gift card/credits to my ebooks.connect.com account? (I've already pm's Leaping Gnome) |

I think I am going to go with the cybook. It seems to be the logical choice for a canadian. With the other two (Sony and Kindle) It seems to be almost impossible to buy books "legally".
Hopefully the ship will be tied up by Christmas or shortly thereafter so Maybe it is going to be my Christmas present. As far as Aircard, I have the Bell $75/month unlimited plan and it works great. I would have liked to go with Telus, because my cell and home + home internet are Telus, but they did not offer that unlimited plan. They also are putting Broadbant internet via Satellite this winter on my vessel. So we will see in the spring how it works out. I know your company very well. Since the ship will be tying up in Hamilton this winter, I am sure your company will be aboard. The Newfie is bigger than the Miniature horses... and they get along fine Regards, Georges |

Thanks Igorsk! I did as you suggested. First, I contacted Leaping Gnome, submitted my money through paypal and while waiting for my Gift Card no., I started downloading some of the Classics through Ebooks. Wow! Anyway, Leaping Gnome is my hero. A couple of days later, he emailed my Gift Card and I immediately started shopping at Sony Connect. I'm crazy about the PRS505 --for someone who is an avid reader, this is by far the best investment I've made. Thanks for getting me going on this!

Leaping Gnome a hero again!
I was somewhat reluctant to contact Leaping Gnome to ask if he would, once again, rescue an international Sony reader owner, with the purchase of a Sony gift card. But determination to take this reader on our upcoming vacation, which is why I purchased the reader, spurred me on to contact Leaping Gnome. Well, he replied quickly and did the transaction so fast I couldn't believe it when I found myself in the luxurious position of having credit in my Sony Connect account!! Thank you SO much Leaping Gnome!! It's just amazing that you are willing to do this, and your kindness will be remembered with each electronic turn of the page!
A major reason I purchased the reader was to defeat the restrictive weight limitations of charter airlines, the 9-10 paperbacks I usually take on vacation contributing substantially to my suitcase/carry-on excess weight charge. We Canadians are finding ourselves at the mercy of the airlines, who are ringing the cash register at both ends of the trip, nabbing us in increasing numbers for overweight baggage (44lb limit, means I'm in trouble for sure when packing for a 2 week trip) I'm taking 3 paperbacks - in case the reader balks at the heat on the beach in Mexico. I'll report on how my Sony PRS-505 performs after our return from this trip. Meanwhile, I'm very happy with the books I've purchased from Sony Connect, and look forward to using the reader on our vacation, with a tip of the hat to Leaping Gnome! |
