I have never seen much of a speed boost with acceleration off. It's maybe 2 or 3 seconds faster, so it's not worth it to me. I get the biggest boost in speed when flash and Java script is off. It also depends on the sites you use. I always use the mobile version when I can.

Shutting of acceleration did me a bit, but not a lot of good.

Turning off flash was better, but then many videos were dead.

Switching to Dolphin solved all my problems. I tried silk again after the latest OS update, and it is still slow.

And ... I see no reason to let Amazon monitor my web activity.

You can set Flash to "on demand"
