You really should. It's very stable - I had no problems whatsoever on either my 350 and 950. And it has lots of advantages. As mentioned above, it allows for setting that 'new' flag and for displaying the last books read on the homescreen.

But what I really love about it is being able to remap buttons (I have it set so that tapping ANY button will flip pages and holding the buttons will activate its specific function, so I can use the buttons to flip pages even if holding with my right hand). Also, you can select tap to turn pages with the touchscreen, rather than swipe. You can add a progress indicator (percentage of book or pages read) on the homescreen or add percentage indicator when reading. Oh, and have a clock in the lower corner. Finally, it adds support for foreign characters...

Those are the features I most like.

It's a very easy installation process now, just download the file for your reader, unzip it, hook up your reader to the computer and double click the setup.exe file and wait a few minutes.

Thanks for this info, both. It sounds good. Does it replace the Sony firmware, and should I place a copy of this somewhere safe just in case the ereader has a hiccup? Does replacing the firmware negate the warranty.

Works very fast and is very handy, I always keep my next 3 books to be read there, last 3 loaded was totally useless to me. It also will change the new tags in bulk if you wish as well now. Very handy tool.
It's certainly the main annoyance to me - I imagine I'd find lots on PRS+ to like, but ATM, it's a case of what I don't know, I don't miss, so if changing the firmware does cause any warranty problems, it might be safer to use something like this till the warranty runs out. I take it that this can work alongside the Sony firmware?

Warranty problems:
I sent in two readers with PRS+ flashed and no problems with warranty. At least in my case...
On the other hand it should be possible to do a complete reverting back (there exists a back-flashing-file on PRS+-website), and it is in any case possible to do a 99% reverting back to the original Sony firmware with no visible traces left.

Copy of the old firmware:
No, it is not neccessary. Besides, the firmware is not visible on the reader and copying not that simple. Original firmware is included in the Sony-update and the above mentioned 'reflash-file' from the PRS+-website.

PRS+ is not a complete new firmware. Technically it is an (invisible) addon stored on an user-inaccessible part of the reader-storage. To make it run it is neccessary to alter the Sony software very lowly, leaving it nearly untouched.
In other words: the first PRS+-flash makes a 'jack' in the wall of the Sony firmware and 'connects' it with the main part of PRS+ (which is invisible for you).

My opinion:

The first thing I would do is to put PRS+ onto the reader. Much to win little to loose.

Cheers. Thanks for that - it makes it a lot clearer.
