To be fair, I had 600+ books stored and when I did the reset I only uploaded/synced my Kobo books roughly a hundred or so. In the past, I had noticed a definite slowing as my book count got higher.

I decided since I use calibre to store/manage my collection there was no need to keep all my books on Kobo. Now I keep the Kobo collection and a short list of books I plan to read in the near future. When done, if not part of the Kobo collection, I delete it from my reader and that (storing fewer books) along with the factory reset has significantly improved performance for me and eliminated a lot of side issues as well.
FWIW, I've only had my reader about a week, and I have less then 10 books on it.

As far as lighting is concerned, I also use a Nook Touch in the same environment, and I haven't noticed similar problems with it (and I believe it uses the same touch tech).

So far, a few dead taps, no double turns.

Does anyone find that it depends on which page turning option you are using? I'm using the third option (most of the left side of the screen for page advance), and I am getting very poor results in trying to turn the page. I would say about half the time my tap or swipe aren't recognized.

I've only ever used the original option.

So, a few glitches last night. I think I'll swap the bulbs out. . .

YES -- I thought maybe I was just dreaming but I find the left 1/2 of the screen is less responsive than the right. I normally use the right side for advance, but in bed occasionally I use the right side and I find it doesn't work as well as it used to.

I switched back to the first page turning option, and it worked very well. I then switched back to the third page turning option, and it worked very well. I had virtually no errors in 45 minutes of reading (~100 page turns, and maybe three ignored taps).

I'm not sure what to make of it.
