It is allowing me to install an app after I logged into my Google account so I did so but the KF wasn't available as a device choice to install to. Does this mean you have to install the android market app on the Fire so this will be an option in the device list?

Yes you do. You will have to root it unless Google releases a special market just for the Fire. Now that would be something but I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

I didn't even realize it was blocked. I knew you couldn't install apps from Google market, so I never bothered to go to the site, and I'm not sure why I'd bother to go there on my Fire anyway.

Not a big deal for me one way or another.

On Silk it was not on Opera though. Which is one of the reasons I installed it.

Sure I can understand that. I guess I don't see the benefit though. Why go to Google Market's site when the market itself is inaccessible? The only thing that comes to mind is to browse a wider selection of apps, which you might or might not be able to get on your Fire.

In addition to legitimate markets, it is worth noting that some developers post the apk files on their websites for direct download.
