Mine updated pretty much like RP said above and seems to be working fine.
One item that would be fixed according to a beta tester here was stopping the auto-rotation in the reader when it was disabled in the display settings. That's one of the first things I checked and it apparently hasn't been fixed. In fact, after I uncheck the auto-rotation in the display setting, it doesn't work at all, not even in the browser, where it worked before. |

OOps! I just went into the reader and found I could now lock it in portrait mode. Don't know why unchecking auto-rotation in the general display settings won't work in the browser, but it's the reader I was concerned about primarily.

Sleep of death hasn't been fixed for me. Worse than ever, now even doing a force power off and power on won't make it come back to life! Had to fiddle with the power button multiple times to get it to turn back on. Back to the never off setting for wireless for me. Kobo are in for a flood of calls after Christmas if very many people end up with this problem with their new Christmas toys.

my previous "no name" books now have names in the Kobo Library.
Great for my uploaded patterns!!!! and also for some of those free public domain books. I've like the new bookshelf I picked too. |

The beta group never had a production build to test (not unusual), but the last beta we did test needed to have WiFi set to never for most, but not all, of the folks who had the sleep of death problem. I can't begin to tell you how much time went into trying to solve this before this build. My best guess is that so many features were added to the Kobo App and so many other issues were resolved, that they decided to release it even though it is not perfect, yet.
It was definitely a good example of being between a rock and a hard place, from my POV. I may be speaking a bit out of school in commenting about this, but I did want to tell you what I observed as a member of the beta group as Kobo developers tried so hard to get this right. Chances are, the fix will turn out to be something that has the developers slapping their heads in disbelief when it is figured out. I have had similar things happen to me in my work when something was just not working and I couldn't get it right--until suddenly I could. Last edited by taming; 12-20-2011 at 06:46 PM. |

it also fixed my sleep of death, from when I put it into sleepmode, (that was the first thing I checked) anyhow, I haven't let it go to sleep yet to see if it wakes up easy from that or not.
It also kept Wifi on, which wasn't a big concern for me since I usually put it into airplane mode. |
