As much as I enjoy my T1, when it comes to comparing it to my 350 in terms of usability as a pure reading device, PRS+ provides some features, which I miss badly on the T1. This may change, but as of now, that's how I feel about it.
The features being installable fonts (and be it a bit fiddly, at least it's possible and it works!), a list of last read (and not last added) books in the home screen and a clock being there always; only to name the important ones. The T1 is a very cool device. But. I do hope, that, except for all the nice extras, the hack provides, some guys or girls will sit down at some point and address reader-usability features. Because after all, this device is first and foremost a reader. The PRS+ project has developed into an impressive set of add-ons, which change the standard readers into fantastic ones. |

I have a 650 and I was in the store today playing with a T-1. My advice--get the T1. I think the 650 is a nicer piece of equipment, but the T1 is way cheaper, is rootable android and has wifi. If you can get a 650 for the same price, then you have a dilemma...

T1 Pros: -WIFI (950 has WIFI, though). -Slightly better screen than x50 series (IMHO). -Lighter form factor. -Is based on Android, so many other applications might work. Cons: -Not fully stable, first Sony Android reader. -Borderline unusable for PDFs. x50 Pros: -Stable. -Very good for PDFs. -PRS+ firmware gives many options (including soon one level sub-collections) Cons: -No WIFI (except 950). -Slightly worse screen than T1 (IMHO). I don't use the browser on either so I cannot compare. |

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...=pencil&page=5 So the list should be changed as follows, I think: T1 Pros: -WIFI (950 has WIFI, though). -Slightly better screen than x50 series (IMHO). -Lighter form factor. -Is based on Android, so many other applications might work. Cons: -First Sony Android reader, so may have more bugs than the Linux based x50 series. Stability so far *seems* OK with the new FW. -Borderline unusable for PDFs. x50 Pros: -Stable and mature code base. -Very good for PDFs. -PRS+ firmware gives many options (including soon one level sub-collections) Cons: -No WIFI (except 950). -Slightly worse screen than T1 (IMHO). Better? |

I bought them both 2 days ago with the plan to return one of them. The T1 was $35 cheaper. Changing fonts using PRS+ was finicky (for me) and I'm happy enough with Amasis on the T1. The T1 screen has greater contrast and seems more responsive. I like the lighter weight of the T1 although the left side of the 650 makes it easy to hold. I don't care about games. Wireless is a nice bonus feature but I don't require it. In a few hours of reading there were no crashes with either. Tapping to turn a page with PRS+ is easier than swiping. I like that there is a place for the stylus on the 650, but in the end it will be the one going back. Now I have to decide which will become my husband's reader - the T1 or the K3...

I have a 600 and wife has a 505, both PRS+. Just got a T1 because I was sick of the 600's horrible screen.
Love the T1. Light, crystal clear, with enough font choices for good readability. Downloads from Calibre server over wi-fi. I do miss my "always there" clock, though. |
