My sister-in-law just gave me a Mighty Brite book light for my birthday. I recently saw them on sale at Costco in a two-pack, but I don't remember the price. I can't find the light on the Mighty Brite web site, but it looks just like their wide "Orchestra" light but with six LEDs instead of nine. It does have two brightness settings. (I'll call them "Mighty" and "Mostly," because the lower setting still seems very bright.)

Has anyone tried one of these with a reader? My reader is on order, so I can't say how well it works. When I receive it I'll try it out and report back.

It depends on your comfort level & preferences. I'm perfectly fine with it. Clearly others are as well or it wouldn't sell right? I love it. I don't like reading with my device in a case. I don't like how it feels in my hands. I don't like the look and I find it too heavy. I'm not concerned about dropping it while reading because I'm not moving when I'm reading.

Everybody's different. It's not a waste of money or bad design. It may not work for you for whatever reason but that doesn't mean it's bad for everyone. It's a personal choice. What works for me doesn't work for you and vice versa. It doesn't mean I'm right & your wrong. You know that!

But when we read of people breaking their reader while it's naked, we don't have any sympathy for them.

I have sympathy for anyone that loses or breaks something that means a lot to them. I only laughed at the comment from the person who said to go back to paper books because it was funny. If you go through multiple readers because you're clumsy and drop them and then step on them well......mabye an ereader isn't for you then.

Accidents do happen yes but we all have our own needs & preferences. If I was going to be reading while taking public transit or read while I walked I'd probably consider a case that would hold it in. I don't have need for that & I'm comfortable enough with how & where I read to know I don't need it.

If something happens & I do drop it while it's naked from a height of less than 3 feet while sitting in a chair or bed, well, I'll deal with the consequences won't I? It still doesn't mean it's a bad idea. Everybody's needs & preferences are different.

Can't you accept that everyone has different preference?
Why are you insisting that everyone should follow your own preference?

Do you know that the light cover is heavier than the reader? When you put the cover on, you instantly increase the weight by 235%! Maybe some users enjoy the Sony reader as being the lightest reader available? The only way to take advantage of it is to use it "naked". And then only clip the LED light when you use it in the dark - instead of carrying the extra weight of the light cover when reading all the time.

I use my phone without a cover, I use my tablet without a cover, and I use my laptop without a cover..... so what's so wrong about using my reader without a cover?

My first ereader came with just a sleeve, so I prefer reading the T1 without a case, it also means I can easily hold it in the palm of my hand. I will be buying a case to protect just haven't found one I like yet that I know fits well........

I find I use the light more than I thought I would especially with dull days we've been having in the UK recently.

The reader is a lot more fragile then you think. That's why a cover is highly recommended.

I use something similar and it works fine. Mine is a single neck / one LED light and it's still more than enough.
Mighty brights are really mighty bright (I also have an original one, double neck / 4 LED for music stands), actually too much for the reader in my opinion. But then I really only use it in bed, when it's absolutely dark around me.

Thanks for your response. In that case, I may give this one to my husband for his music stand, and get something more appropriate for myself.

You can't buy the Flexlight - it has to be built into the device and no current devices come with it.

Cover with built-in light or No Cover with clip-on light?

Allow me to settle this dispute. I don't want no stinking cover because I don't want the added bulk, plus I can't fit the reader into some of by coat jackets with the cover on.

However, I do want some protection for it so I purchased a silicon skin from Ebay for $5.99.

To that I purchased a Verso-clip on light from Bestbuy.com for 14.99. I have a Kandle light for my Kindle, but due to the angled top edge it doesn't clip or hold as well as like. I am hoping the flexibility of the Verso light will overcome the problem with the angled top edge.

I can't say whether this combo will be satisfactory since I just ordered them, but I am hoping.
