From the original article on Google's Mobile Ad blog:

One of our studies, a diary study that had people record every occasion that they used their tablet over a two-week period...
Very curious which tablet(s) Google tracked.

Yeah, tablets are also very bad at ironing, you wouldn't believe all these creases!

Do we even know the intent of the study? It wasn't clear to me. Google has irons in a lot of fires. Hard to say how useful the study was without knowing why it was commissioned.

One of the conclusions was that most tablets do not leave the home. Again, tv hardware vs phones vs game consoles vs laptops vs desktop computers. Perhaps Google was trying to figure out if launching a tablet targeted interface or app would increase sales or market share?

Go back and click through to the Google article, if you haven't done that, and click through to their previous research. My impression is that they are wondering if they will lose 'mind share' if their tools are not easy to use on a tablet.

And note which division of Google is conducting these studies-Mobile Ads. If tablets aren't leaving the home, that has some implications for location based advertising for sure.

Karma for you! I didn't see that angle when I read the article. I suspect this study will also influence the way they target adds for smartphones and tablets.

I use mine in the kitchen while cooking. Now granted, my tablet is actually a convertible notebook, so I'm using Windows Media Center in Win7, but the same applies I think - I have access to most of the same media sources (Netflix, Amazon, etc) with the addition of antenna tv via my network TV tuner. I also use it in bed, on the couch, and if the weather was warmer I'd use it outside on the back porch. I have not yet taken it in the bathroom.
