There's iBooks and Apple. Not good for anyone living on Earth. There is B&N with it's own DRM for ePub. Not too bad if you can strip the DRM and live in the US. Otherwise, no good. There is Amazon and it's own DRM for Mobipocket. KF8 is coming, but we don't know if Amazon will allow it on the K3/KK. Until it can be stripped/converted to ePub, it's a locked system. And finally there is ePub with Adobe Adept DRM. That's it. There are no more. |

i`ve just ordered the Kindle Touch with the (expensive) lighted leather cover.
i will do alot of bedtime reading and this was the decisive factor for me. the built in led light and cover looks fantastic.. ![]() also signed up for a trial period with amazon Prime.. got free two day shipping to my us address with that.. but dont know if i`ll be using it prior to that. now i am excited to get my KT.. ![]() thanks everyone. |

If you buy a nook STR, you are not locked into B&N. You can use ePub with Adept DRM. You can borrow Overdrive ePub from libraries. You can buy ePub from Sony.

the winning factor here was in fact the built in led cover since i will be doing alot of bedtime reading. i really wanted a android based device like the nook. but with the warranties and sony`s freezing problems i fell on the KT. |

The light actually uses a lot less power than you'd think. It appears to impact the battery life less than the wireless, certainly. And it is a definite plus to have it built in.

I's better if you keep the US address as default. Sometimes, some books are not available to non US Costumer. I live abroad too, and there is not problem at all with that, as long as you have your country setting set to US.

maybe i`ve gone blind.. but where do i find this setting?
edit: i found the setting under "my kindle account>country settings" it was in Norway by default. changed it to the US address.. is this enough to get a US kindle account? and will amazon send something to this address unintended? Last edited by rbuljo; 12-03-2011 at 11:49 AM. |
